Just another Trendy SoBe eatery with lackluster cuisine

It was with a great expectation that I entered the restaurant that Govind Armstrong has sway over on South Beach. I only wish that it could have lived up to the reputation that this up & coming chef has earned. I called last minute and was able to get a table. This worried me a bit; usually a good restaurant is BOOKED up. My guest & I were promptly seated and although it was 9 pm the place was fairly empty, another worrying sign. The menu appears to have ambitious dishes, but execution was very flat. The starters were Chestnut Soup, which was lukewarm and lackluster. The Sweetbreads while crispy were served in a very oily melange of over cooked root vegetable bits, which added nothing to the dish. They were colorless, texture less and flavorless. VERY DISSAPPOINTING! The Entrees' came next, Salmon on a bed of lentils with collard greens. The dish was dull, colorless and while the salmon at $32 was nice if small at about 6 oz, the single leaf of collard greens and small mound of purple lentils were again oily and quite bland. My guest's buccitini was also under seasoned and rather un appetizingly plated and not served with Parmesan which had to be asked for and was brought literally a teaspoon full on a tiny plate. JOKE or WHAT? At this point we just wanted to escape this very pricy culinary failure. I think that Govind Armstrong really needs to totally revamp the kitchen staff or close this place before it destroys his reputation in this town.

Barely average food nice decor

Took my boyfriend for his birthday during lunch and I was disappointed. Maybe my expectations were to high but the food was not good. My boyfriend told me thanx for the meal but he would have enjoyed a dinner I cooked at home better. Nice atmosphere and decor but below average food. Good place to go if you just want to chill and get some drinks with friends but don't expect a fab lunch.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!!!!!!!!

This place has a great atmosphere and a great crowd, but the food was not that great! I had the tuna with avocado....there was more avocado than anything else and no taste! I think this is a good place for drinks and a few good appetizers (not the one i had), but I would recommend other great restaurants in the area for dinner! Food is not worth the money!.

I disagree with a lot of people here, the food is not that bad but at the same time i was expecting a lot more from cheff Goving Amstrong. The taste of the food isn't anything sapecial at the point that when you try it you don't feel like wowww! this isn' t the best i have ever tried. Before i was there i thought that foos was going to be like extremely good and i think i was wrong. Is not bad, don t get my wrong, but the presentation of the dishes (plating) and the taste is for sure not the best you can get on the beach. The service ok but my server was acting like a robot, that s real. i asked her about dishes descriptions and she knew a lot about them but i did t need that much description, i needed a guide, cause for example i don t like pork( i hate it )

and she went over the description and she was traying to sell it to me. i was expecting more honesty couse being that pushy is not a good sign. The menu also is very small so i didn t have that many options so i tried the tuna ( she said that was their version of tuna tartar)and i think it was from 1 to 10 a ...6 and then the grouper which for me was below average....too dry .....and fish with proscciutto???mmm no!!!!. Desserts everybody agree they are bad with a huge lack of taste. The good thin was the wine that unfortunately wasn t made by the cheff but was very good and at a very reasonable price. cheers for that!!!. In summary, this place if the improve the menu could be a lot better..................

nothing special about this place.......food is just fine and the service is ok! the decor is very poor and the place, i mean the structure is just normal. For sure not the best place in miami but not the worst either. just one more.

Very disappointed. I had high expectation since I'm a regular at Town. But food was good, but service is someting that needs huge improvements. First, front desk people were bunch of snobs, services uneven, food came out very fast(even before we finished our appetizers). These little things differentiate from the great restaurant to just another good restarant. I'm sure hotel crowd will help, but wondering with so many other great restaurants, why this one.

i think that this place is too expensive and the food is just ok!. the server was too pushy and she told us that the food was fantastic when it wasn t. The menu was very small, and not very well presented. The server over decribed the dishes and they were not as good as she said. Tuna; ok, pompano; not ok, sweetbreds, mmmm, average, chicken; too salty. i hope that the owners can understand that miami is very different from LA. We need more. Ahhh....the music was just horrible. i saw an article on the internet saying that paul oakenfold was the one who designed the music for the hotel ans restaurant and that s why i took my girlfriend there thinking that that place was very cool but i found out that this place was very cold, A/C to high. In LA must be very popular but here it won t if they don t get the idea of what miami is. I personally did not like it.
