Michy's Miami's Best
by jamesV at Citysearch
I had to write this review after reading some of the negative reviews . First of all: I have dined at all of Chef Bernstien's restaurants several times. I always come back to Michy's for the great food and service. I have had the pleasure of meeting Chef Bernstien and her husband David. They are both the most warm, sincere and accomodating people I have ever enncountered in the restaurant business. Their love and passion for the business trickles down to the staff, which are both knowledgable and friendly. I feel blessed to have a Chef of Michelle's caliber living and working in Miami. I have to say that reading those negative reviews I feel that most of those people have never eaten at the restaurant or could'nt figure out the concept of there half's and fulls on the menu. I would reccommend that anyone reading this go try her food for themselves. I guarantee you will love it!
- Pros: The Best Food in Miami by far.
- Cons: Hard to locate.
Awesome Experience!

I found the wine list to be intriguing and affordable. They served the freshest oysters I've ever eaten in Florida. Michelle's White Gazpacho was velvety and complex, and the salads were cool perfection. Our next course of Truffle Polenta and Duck Confit was a decadent dream. Her Seared Foie almost sent me over the top, and no one in this town does Sweetbreads better. The Pasta & Clams seduced my palate all over again and the Short Ribs were addictive. I understand why the Bread Pudding is the only dessert in her cookbook. The service was outstanding. None of us can wait to go back.
- Pros: Food, Service & Wine List
- Cons: Small Sign Out Front
Simply the Best
by phoebeloren at Citysearch
We visited for the first time on Christmas Eve. It was a pre-fix menu and a wine flight was also available.
My husband and I each chose different selections for all courses, and everything we had was absolutely delicious! My filet mignon melted in my mouth. The bread pudding (not usually a favorite of mine) made me a convert as it was simply the best bread puddingI have ever had in my life. The service was wonderful and wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not have reservations but they fit us in at the bar which was very comfortable. This meal will go down as one of the best I have ever had, (seconded by my husband). P.S. the chestnut soup made with white truffle oil is also to die for.
- Pros: The Food, Ambience, Wait Staff, Unpretentious Wine Sommelier
- Cons: Parking
MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN MIAMI!
by brijette at Citysearch
Where to begin? I am in the biz and only in my restaurant have I ever seen management take such great care of guests that are in the service industry, until Michy's. On my first visit, we didn't make reservations and were happy to dine at the bar. Our bartender was great as was everything else to follow. Food was excellent!! I absolutely love how the menu is done, with the option of half and full size portions. Now, not to insult the Chef that I work for, but never have I ever had a better frois gras in my life then here. I never even liked it before I had Chef Michelle's, which is the same response that a friend of mine had when I forced her to try it against her will... and now she won?t stop raving about it! Sweetbreads, AMAZING. Polenta, AMAZING... rich but amazing none the less. Civeche? The best I've ever had, complete with corn nuts for added crunch and flavor. Honestly, this restaurant is a true gem. You will not see a fashion model hostess. It might not be in the best location, but once inside, you forget about your surroundings. I am so happy that a restaurant like this has opened and will frequent it as long as it's there. This is what restaurants are supposed to be like.
- Pros: EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
- Cons: Location, but that is easily forgotten...
Delicious food!

My family ate at Michy's for the first time this weekend - and it was delicious! You can order most of the items on the menu in half or full orders, which allows you to sample a bunch. The Bibb Salad was incredible, as was their special Mac-n-Cheese. My favorite entree was the Skirt Steak w/ Chimichurri and Bearnaise sauces. Yum! The Apple Tart Tatin and Bread Pudding were great for dessert. Also found the wine/champagne menu to be excellent. Many of the dishes are actually quite affordable - just watch out because you'll want to order one of everything. Oh, and it's not nearly as dressy as many reviews made it seem... which I liked. Only con is that it's at 69th and Biscayne in a building and neighborhood that has no charm. Otherwise, really great!
- Pros: Food, Wine
- Cons: Location
Best food in Miami
by aw141 at Citysearch
I can't understand the mediocre reviews on this site--Michy's is easily the best restaurant in Miami. The food was impeccable--it was a perfect dining experience, and surprisingly reasonable in price. Every dish we had--and we tried 7--was perfect. I can't wait to go back.
- Pros: Excellent food; reasonably priced.
- Cons: Short wait for a table.
Michy's rawks!

Simply delectable! Try the pan seared foie gras on a tender sweet corn biscuit with maple syrup. The ambiance is casually elegant and the crowd knows what is good for them! Service was second to none, in a non-frumpy way.
Fresh and Innovative

Finally a restaurant that isnt stuffy and serves thoughtful food and wine. They are trying to satisfy the whole neighborhood rather than just make the critics and selective diners happy.
Its a new experience for Miami, one that was way overdue. The flavors are clean, fresh and ingredients awesome. Congratulations for a great attitude, wine list and experience.
- Pros: all
- Cons: none
Just about perfect

My husband and I had a wonderful experience our first time at Michy's. The service was excellent - the wait staff is knowledgeable and quick with recommendations. The crab timbale special, ham and blue cheese croquetas, and duck with calabaza ravioli were all divine. We finished with the baked alaska paired with a delightful rose champagne with a color so deep it might as well be called red (although I understand that technically there is no such thing as 'red' champagne).
As I looked around the dining room, guests wore satisfied smiles, and (as was our case) were actually leaning over to ask their neighbors about the dishes they were sampling. In fact, the party of four next to us requested several of the dishes we tried after seeing how much we were enjoying them. We will be going back again and again.
- Pros: Excellent wine list
- Cons: Valet is a little difficult to locate
Putting Miami on the Map!

So far beyond the Miami Beach Scene and Attitude! Fantastic! Let's let the true Art of the Cousine be the Experience! Coming from NYC last week, and having dined at the Spice Market, Olives, and ONO, I finally feel that Miami is not only getting there, but almost establishing it's own Meat Packing District!! Hee hee! with a few more Restaurants like Michy's, NYC has nothing on us!!
So my experience started by walking into this vibrant and revitalizing space, that was full of energy. It was a packed house last night, and near the back of the room was the bar filled by awaiting patrons! I walked up to the hostess and and I had, I think, the last open table! Thanks GOD for my Reservation! lol!
that was it! My Experience blew me away!! I ordered 9 half portions (which was totally cool) so that I could try as many dishes as possible. Ok, so this is the part I don't get!!!! NO DISH was my favorite, because they were all better than the next, and then you'd try the same dish again, and it was better than the last! I've never had that experience!! WOW!
I had the blue cheese croquetes (insane!), the ceviche, the amazing turks and caicos Conch, the watercress and goat cheese salad (!!!!), Truffled Polenta with quail egg and Panchetta? (wow),BBQ Quail (!!!), Seared Foie Gras(running out of descriptions), Seared Duck breast, Short Ribs and polenta!! WOw! Everything was Amazing! I also had a great red Burgundy, Mercurey! But as amazing as that 1er Cru was, I almost forgot about it becasue the food was killing me softly (in the best sense of the meaning)!! What can I say?? Not in the mood for the formal Brickell power lunch district, or the South Beach Boom Boom tonight?? Then I highly recommend you to try Michy's, where her restaurant is the canvas and her food is the loving Art!! WOw!!! I feel like such a funny critic, but I just had to share my enthusiasm about this place!! NYC, watch out!!!
