Off the beaten path

by wrharbour at Citysearch

Located on Biscayne Blvd. this restaurant packs them in. The menu is refreshingly unique and offers half servings as well as full plates. Being a man who loves to eat I was a little disappointed on the small size of the full plate. I am scared to think what the half plate looked like! However I respect the fact that the food was so delicious I probably would have over eaten and felt bad later? The wine selection is top notch?.I had the braised short ribs which were nothing short of amazing. I recommend it for people who want to venture off and see that there is more to Miami than South Beach!

Michy's rawks!

by soulkind at Citysearch

Simply delectable! Try the pan seared foie gras on a tender sweet corn biscuit with maple syrup. The ambiance is casually elegant and the crowd knows what is good for them! Service was second to none, in a non-frumpy way.

Rip off

by alfamilan at Citysearch

On Saturday night we made a reservation for 7:30, but arrived at 7:00. Getting seated early was no problem, and the service was generally ok. My wife picked the quail dish. I had the Salmon. In a word our food was mediocre at best. My fish was OK, but small and not worth the price. The quail, however, was just bad. We were expecting a nice bird for the price. Instead what we got was something that looked like it was scraped off a pan. Awful side of rabo encendido? dish. All this with 2 glasses of wine, and a dessert (beignets, bland) for $150. What a rip - avoid this place like the plague. Many better restaurants in Miami for a lot less.

Fresh and Innovative

by rebeccalovestoeat at Citysearch

Finally a restaurant that isnt stuffy and serves thoughtful food and wine. They are trying to satisfy the whole neighborhood rather than just make the critics and selective diners happy.

Its a new experience for Miami, one that was way overdue. The flavors are clean, fresh and ingredients awesome. Congratulations for a great attitude, wine list and experience.

Bad dining experience

by travelxfood at Citysearch

I just finished dinner at Michy's, not even decent food, horrible service!

Michys seem to have a knack for some critics, but leaving me decidedly underwhelmed. It's one of those places where the food is detailed on the menu in an absurdly overwrought and precious fashion, and ends up being simply not that great. Nor, in my opinion, particularly creative. Granted, I often find myself the odd-person out in my ambivalent at best view, hence the title, but there it is.

Boring atmosphere, below average food. The seafood platter appetizer, frozen shrimpsno flavora mediocre oyster selection, thats it.. Pasta carbonara with frozen peasinedibleCod main special bland beyond recognition with overcooked vegetables. In all a horror story.

We were unhappy with Michy's

by foodieinmiami at Citysearch

Following several articles we went to try Michy's on Biscayne Boulevard, the place is a little funky but the mood is good. The service was pretty much decent, not surprising considering the average Miami 'standard' is really low. As far as the food goes, they had just too many 'misses', I was dissapointed specially by a bland conch appetizer and my husband seriously unhappy with a ropa vieja Cuban braised meat that was both overly spiced and too greasy. A couple of successes though, a nice appetizer of foie gras torchon and a main portion of duck confit. Skip dessert as we were presented with a banana tart -complimentary, since the server noted our mostly disapponting comments- almost inedible, way too sweet and the dough way too thick. In all a pitty.

Just about perfect

by biscuitjones at Citysearch

My husband and I had a wonderful experience our first time at Michy's. The service was excellent - the wait staff is knowledgeable and quick with recommendations. The crab timbale special, ham and blue cheese croquetas, and duck with calabaza ravioli were all divine. We finished with the baked alaska paired with a delightful rose champagne with a color so deep it might as well be called red (although I understand that technically there is no such thing as 'red' champagne).

As I looked around the dining room, guests wore satisfied smiles, and (as was our case) were actually leaning over to ask their neighbors about the dishes they were sampling. In fact, the party of four next to us requested several of the dishes we tried after seeing how much we were enjoying them. We will be going back again and again.

  • Pros: Excellent wine list
  • Cons: Valet is a little difficult to locate

Putting Miami on the Map!

by luiealvarez at Citysearch

So far beyond the Miami Beach Scene and Attitude! Fantastic! Let's let the true Art of the Cousine be the Experience! Coming from NYC last week, and having dined at the Spice Market, Olives, and ONO, I finally feel that Miami is not only getting there, but almost establishing it's own Meat Packing District!! Hee hee! with a few more Restaurants like Michy's, NYC has nothing on us!!

So my experience started by walking into this vibrant and revitalizing space, that was full of energy. It was a packed house last night, and near the back of the room was the bar filled by awaiting patrons! I walked up to the hostess and and I had, I think, the last open table! Thanks GOD for my Reservation! lol!

that was it! My Experience blew me away!! I ordered 9 half portions (which was totally cool) so that I could try as many dishes as possible. Ok, so this is the part I don't get!!!! NO DISH was my favorite, because they were all better than the next, and then you'd try the same dish again, and it was better than the last! I've never had that experience!! WOW!

I had the blue cheese croquetes (insane!), the ceviche, the amazing turks and caicos Conch, the watercress and goat cheese salad (!!!!), Truffled Polenta with quail egg and Panchetta? (wow),BBQ Quail (!!!), Seared Foie Gras(running out of descriptions), Seared Duck breast, Short Ribs and polenta!! WOw! Everything was Amazing! I also had a great red Burgundy, Mercurey! But as amazing as that 1er Cru was, I almost forgot about it becasue the food was killing me softly (in the best sense of the meaning)!! What can I say?? Not in the mood for the formal Brickell power lunch district, or the South Beach Boom Boom tonight?? Then I highly recommend you to try Michy's, where her restaurant is the canvas and her food is the loving Art!! WOw!!! I feel like such a funny critic, but I just had to share my enthusiasm about this place!! NYC, watch out!!!

Great Menu!!! Great Ambiance!!!! High Energy

by cmorales at Citysearch

THe place was great and very welcoming. THe energy of the restaurant is great, servers really know the menu, even the food runners are great! The food is unbelievable. It a great idea that you have hlaf portions or full portions. You can do the tapas thing and taste more of the menu...it's worth it. It's fine dining in a more casual atmosphere, great job at blening both together.

  • Pros: Ambiance
  • Cons: Tables may be too close together

Excellent wine - average food

by ddawson708 at Citysearch

We had a very good bottle of wine. However, the food was good at best - not bad, but we are not talking about the next time we need to return. The food is good/average that will attract people for the a one time visit. The decor is trying and the crowd is boring. My venture off the beach was a bomb. I think I will continue to eat on the beach or cook in.

  • Pros: the wine
  • Cons: the waiter tried too much
