Beware! You are just taken for a ride at Michy's

The decor is awful considering it is the result of the transformation of an old retail store into a cold looking overcrowded restaurant with some fabric hanging from the walls. The sticky plastic "Dinette" style chairs are very uncomfortable. The food is really not noteworthy. I had to send my snapper back twice for being undercooked and finally just gave up. We had to ask for salt and pepper since none was availble at the table. Service was slow and spotty. The portions are ridiculously small and the prices are insultingly high! The menue is very limited and unimaginative. This reminded me of the old classic "The Emperor's New clothes"--does Michelle's name carry so much weight that nobody will wake up to the fact that you are just taken for a ride at Michy's?
- Pros: None
- Cons: Unimaginative food, small portions, insultingly high prices.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

I haven't felt this disappointed in over a decade. The food sounds very "high brow" so you would expect it to have been halfway decent. I make better steaks and I can't even cook. We spent over $200 for about $30 worth of appetizer sized food. I left feeling violated especially when they charged us $18 just for a glass of riesling.
Buyer beware!!!!!
- Pros: You only have to pay $5 to self park
- Cons: Mediocre food at high end prices!
Still Starving

Do not go here hungry... you will leave hungry. Whether you order full portions or half portions, you will leave starving and broke.
The food was ok. The bread pudding could have been warmer - Im not sure if it was supposed to be kind of cold or not tho. The bartender/waitress was nice.. and considering how crowded it was, we got our food fairly quickly.
- Pros: You can say you went there
- Cons: Portions are too small
Scam food

I went there three times and the last time the check was a whopping $ 600 for the four of us and totally not worthed......
The place is loud and too bright, the staff is nice, the wine list is extensive, but the food is a big disappointment because i think the main ingredients are cheap quality meats and seafood covered up with sauces too heavy and too rich with butter and cream or perfumed with truffle oil and other scents to disguised what is under the plate.
The portions are so tiny that i had to order many "little" dishes and by the time i got home i was sick with "rich food overdose"
Chef Bernstein has been prized and awarded everywhere for her cuisine, and i think she is a very talented person to come up with such intricate recipes and her presentation is beautiful but she should use better ingredients for the prices that she charges in that location and with that horrible decor, i am absolutely not going back.
- Pros: service
- Cons: food, ambiance
Don't expect the food to be good or special at Michey's!

We went to what I thought was one of the best restaurants in Miami. It certainly is renowned. However the food lacked everything. The bill was exorbitant! The salads were mushy. The polenta was tasteless and stodgy. The shrimp was so salty it burned my tongue. The sweetbreads were breaded and not very good. What a pity because I really wanted good food. I was so disappointed.
- Pros: Nice photos in the hallway. Nice staff.
- Cons: The food was salty and not up to scratch. what a pity!Looks out ontoBiscayne Blvd.which is not very pretty.wh

I was tempted in rate this at only 3 Stars, but went with 4 due to the popularity of the place. While the food is very good, I find the service a bit slow, but then I'm usually in a rush. Most folks seem to enjoy the place and have a good gab between ordering and eating.
Very confusing experience.OVER PRIZED

I have been at Michy's twice. I moved here from NY 6 months ago and finally decided to give it a try after hearing so many contradictory reviews from friends. I have to say the food and ingredients in general are top quality, even thought many of the dishes seem totally self indulgent to me. On both visits we found execution problems. The first time the "croquetas" were frozen in the core, not cold, frozen. The "short rib" on the first visit was tiny and the meat was tough. On the second visit the piece we got was twice the size and very moist and flavorful, truly delicious. Salads were good, the Ceviche had too much of a ginger taste. On the second visit we ordered the "cuatro leches" cake and the fruit on the sauce was sour, and tasted/looked like it had been sitting there for days again in the first visit the cake was perfect. Wine list is very good but be prepared to pay a 400% mark up price .Service was just good for Miami stanards but if you now better it is just barely average. When I had to go to the restroom I was shocked to see the wall needs to be scrubbed and painted urgently! they were out of soap and paper towels, and the restrooms were not clean.
It seems to me that the owners spend all the money they save in rent , maintaining the locale and training employees in a great PR firm because the place is totally overrated and extremely over prized for the overall experience. I think this place has a great potential but they need to work on consistency and execution. All the problems we experienced could be forgiven to a small neighborhood place, but not to a restaurant that charges you as much as a NYC 4 stars restaurant. Overall a terrible value for what you spend there.
- Pros: Different experience for Miami, good quality ingredients
- Cons: Location, decor an overall value.
Food is a win/miss but Overall Great Experience

I was really wary of going to Michy's after reading the reviews on this site. To top it off, we were entering the restaurant as a friend was leaving and he declared the place "overhyped". I had also heard the place was over-priced, and they don't seem to have a website with a menu so I didn't even know if they'd have something I'd like for the price. Well, I have got to say, despite my reservations, I really enjoyed my experience there. First, the ambience is very comfortable and I really think that even though the decor is a bit of a hodgepodge, it does come together very nicely. Secondly, I am not a wine connoisseur by any means, but I thought the waiter recommended a great "light" red wine from the by the glass menu. It went very well with the dinner. I did think the menu was a bit win or miss. We tried the seared foie gras and duck confit to start. The foie gras was simply amazing- it really is the best I've had in Miami. The duck confit was dry and I can get it much better and cheaper elsewhere. Same thing happened with our entrees. Short ribs were probably the worst I've had in Miami and expensive. They weren't bad, but they didn't fall off the bone and melt in my mouth or anything. But the steak frites were delightful. I am not a bread pudding person but I followed the advice of the citysearch folks and ordered that for dessert- that too was amazing. So my consensus is that I can see why people may not have a positive experience at Michy's if they order a dish that is substandard. But there are dishes on the menu that I think are noteworthy and if you find the right thing you may just be hooked!
- Pros: ambience, food, service
- Cons: parking
$22 Prawn - Rip Off
by gomiata

Went to Michy's on a Sunday night. Menu said "Prawns" plural. Price was $22. When dish came out it was one prawn - good size but not super large - about an under 8 for $22. It was undercooked to boot. Sent it back and came out OK. Tasted watery so might have been frozen - not sure. Checked with a friend in NY who writes restaurant reviews and said he never heard of a $22 prawn - very overpriced. Wine prices also overpriced. There was nothing by the glass that was not $15 or higher and second rate - White from Chile that was more for a glass than the whole bottle cost. Since there was nothing drinkable by the glass we ordered a bottle of Sancerre for $58. Wine was good. Saw the same bottle in the wine store for $18 the next day. Food was very good but a rip off. Would not go back.
- Pros: Good Food
- Cons: Overpriced
Simply the Best

We visited for the first time on Christmas Eve. It was a pre-fix menu and a wine flight was also available.
My husband and I each chose different selections for all courses, and everything we had was absolutely delicious! My filet mignon melted in my mouth. The bread pudding (not usually a favorite of mine) made me a convert as it was simply the best bread puddingI have ever had in my life. The service was wonderful and wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not have reservations but they fit us in at the bar which was very comfortable. This meal will go down as one of the best I have ever had, (seconded by my husband). P.S. the chestnut soup made with white truffle oil is also to die for.
- Pros: The Food, Ambience, Wait Staff, Unpretentious Wine Sommelier
- Cons: Parking
