This bar/restaurant is perfect for a casual dinner or a just to grab a drink with friends. Longing for a neighborhood restaurant where you are greeted by the owner and taken care of like a true VIP - then this is your place! A true gem on South Beach.
- Pros: great food, friendly environment, good music
Best Locals Place On The Beach
by Tplnoles at Citysearch
I am not sure what the last two reviewers experienced, but I have been dining at Carke's religously for the last 4 years. Laura, the owner is amazing and the food continues to impress. From traditional Irish fair to a Filet Mignon, you are sure to love the food. The dialy specials are always great and the beer and wine selection are outstanding.
Clarke's is a must eat on the beach!
Past Its Prime
by Beach Beth at Citysearch
I think the restaurant is definitely past its prime. No effort to keep the food as fresh and interesting as when they first opened a few years ago, and the prices are high for the value. The ever-present owner seems to have lost her zeal for the business -- seeming crabby and unwelcoming at the door.
Not What it Once Was

This place used to be a lot better. Still has pretty satisfying pub fare but I used to go there for a nice dinner with my girlfriend, too, and those days are gone. Bland dishes, overpriced food and drink. And the service is nothing to write home about. Still, if you're hard up on a night out with your buddies, it'll do the trick as the next stop on your pub crawl...
Such a shame....

So sad- this place used to be one of my husband and my favorite hangouts - both for food and for the quick drink here and there. I don't know if there's been a change in management or what's happened over the past few months, but the service has gone way downhill (with the food quality not far behind it).
This includes a weekend bartender, Jerry, who is downright obnoxious to female patrons - I happen to know two other women besides myself who've made complaints to the management, apparently to no avail.
The final nail in the coffin for us though, (after all, it is a pub, and we were never expecting Ritz style service here), was the increasingly egregious erosion of basic standards of cleanliness which we first noticed late this spring .
From being seated at not quite clean tables to seeing a waitress exit the ladies' room without washing her hands (I kid you not, it was right in front of a friend and I!) A friend of mine swears she has spotted an unappetizing cockroach or two around the dining area, but I can't directly attest to this as I fortunately was spared that ordeal (!).
Bottomline - A shame this formerly charming, fun (clean!) place has gone so to seed... Do yourself a favor and save your money - the prices are FAR from those you'd expected of the textbook hole-in-the- wall Clarkes' has become :-(
My favorite Restaurant / bar

My favorite place to go. Have been here a dozen plus times. Clarke's is comfy and serves great food. Love the crispy cabbage rolls appetizer ( with corned beef and mashed potatoes) whoa! Great wine selection and ice cold "Stella" on draught (highly recommend with a fresh baked pretzel). Excellent friendly service too.
Love It

I've been to Clarke's a bunch of times, sometimes for drinks and others for dinner. The staff is great, the beer is great and the food is excellent. It's become one of those "regular" places. You know the type, where you don't mind going back to again and agaian and again.
- Pros: Food, Beer, Staff
Clarke's!!
by yoel29 at Citysearch
My wife & I were visiting friends in the Miami area and found Clarke's on Citysearch. Clarke's was a welcome change from all the trendy(no thank you) locations popping up in Miami since our last visit. Good food, good beer, good service and a very nice neighborhood pub atmosphere. It reminded me of the good old days when I used to go out more(except Clarke's is nice then those places). Highly recommended.
- Pros: Food, Beer, Ambiance, Service
Upscale Isish Pub
by nativeinmiami at Citysearch
Clarke's is a rare gem, located in the South of Fifth district in South Beach. I have been there several times, and I was always pleased with the food. It's a great place to watch a game at the bar, or to have a casual dinner. The owner Laura, is very service oriented, and knows how to run a place. Everything is good, and I have tried just about everything on the menu. Definitely try Clake's at least once. You will not be disappointed.
- Pros: Great food, good service
- Cons: Can be crowded on weekend, and I don't think they take reservations
The cozy-pub-in-the-big-city idea might be a bit played out, but the fare here exceeds stereotype.

In Short
This pub-style bar and grill looks just the way you'd expect: a glossy bar, dark tables and the warm gleam of suspended light fixtures. This could be Boston in the summer, or if you squint, Dublin. Basic draught choices include Guinness, Bass, Harp and--Miller Lite. But there's a wide selection of bottled beers and wines. The real draw is food ranging from fish-and-chips to pork chops, braised cabbage and Parmesan truffle fries.
The best find in South Beach
by miamikid at Citysearch
Forget the tourist trap restaurants all over South Beach. Clarke's is a real find. Centrally located, with easy parking, Clarke's is run by Laura Cullen, who comes from a NY restaurant family, and she and her attentive staff will make you feel like a regular even on a first visit. It has the feel of an upscale Irish pub, with a great bar (drinks are generous), and super food from burgers to bangers and mash to fish and chips to sesame crusted ahi tuna (best burger on the Beach!). Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. This restuarant is always packed with locals who love it, and it seems like a constant big party. If you want top notch food, reasonable prices, and a ton of fun, get over to Clarke's. You're sure to love it. It's one of our favorites, and we live in South Beach.
- Pros: Fun atmosphere, great food, super drinks and wine list
- Cons: none
