It is true, you can learn to windsurf in 2 hrs. In fact it only took us one hour. I never had so much fun or laughed so hard in my life. I went to Miami Sailboards with the thought in mind of having my 13 yr old nephew and 16 yr old niece learn to windsurf. Well we all learned including my 3 legged brother in law Jim. If he can learn to windsurf any one can.We couldn't get him off the board to give one of us a chance(which was very stable and easy to use) Karen De Leon and her husband Ovidio (whom own Sailboards Miami) taught us all. The lessons were easy to understand and well explained. After our windsurfing we also went kayaking. That was a lot of fun too. Highly recommended, reasonably priced, great to do on a hot day

Pros: service, knowledge, multiple activities

Cons: no concession stand

MIami is kinda weird 'cuz you can't access the water easily accept to play on the beach. We found we could go kayaking and learn to windsurf, though. Sailboards Miami is a fun place to spend a half day. We were early for a windsurfing lesson so we took out two single kayaks. I was afraid I wouldn't be strong enough but it wasn't hard. We saw Vizcaya and paddled around and I got comfortable on the water. At 12:00 we took the 2 hour lesson with 3 other people (there were five in total). We started on land and the instructor showed us the basics. Then we got in to the water about knee deep (it was warm and they say it's pretty much warm all year, perhaps wet suit weather around January and February). The instructor got us to turn the board and go straight. Within the first 30 minutes we all had our own boards and were sailing. I received a bigger sail so I could go faster. We had a good time and I'd recommend going there.

Pros: safe location (no motor boats)

Cons: bathrooms 5 minute walk

It's true--you really can learn to windsurf in their 2 hour lesson! I was amazed since I'm not the best athlete in the world. My cousins went kayaking and hung out on the sandbar--they said it was beautiful. I'm definitely going back. Bring your date or your kids--it's what makes being in South Florida great.
