Overhyped

Saw the reviews and decided to go for happy hour. Great salsa and 2 for 1 beers...can't beat that! Went for dinner a couple weeks later and everything was bland. I mean, everyone's food was bland. The food is too expensive to not have any flavor. I will recommend the HH though. Fill up on the salsa and skip the dinner.
Terrible restaurant
by stormingnorm
the food was terrible , overcooked, chicken was hard, very oily Yuck!
The service was even worse than the food , the waitress could not handle the large group and forgot some orders, Eventually the forgotten platter arrived after other Diners had finished after complaining twice.
Complaints to the manager who arrived after 15 mins where met with a "couldnt care less"attitude and not interested in addressing the problem with poor service
The Salsa and nachos were OK. The Desserts were tasteless
I would rate this as the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in with the worst Service. By Comparison , McDonalds is a better option
- Pros: none except for maintaining the diet by not eating the ghastly food
- Cons: bad service, greasy food, poor quality
Glad we found it.

We have been looking for good mexican food and we found it here. The food is great and very high quality. Also, the service was impecable. We had a very attentive server. Highly recommend.
BEST MEXICAN FOOD AND EATING ATMOSPHERE!!!
by zcordoba
I Must say that this is one of the best places for mexican food. The atmosphere is great , live mariachi on the weekends. Service was great, we did not need to make reservations. I felt I was eating at my grandma's house. The attention from servers was impecable . Don't miss it!!!
- Pros: Many good ones!
Don't waste your time or Money

I went by this place because it was rated #1 and I was not happy with the food or the service our waitress came by two times to take our order and drop off our drinks No refills, No asking how our gross food was. She didn't even bother to give us our bill we had to ask someone else to help us. Stay away from this place unless you like wasting your money!!!!!!!!
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: everything
As authentic as mexican cuisine gets!
by rachel_mia
I have literally tried just about every mexican restaurant in Miami looking for the most authentic taste and Paquitos has taken the lead every time. The food as great. The pico de gallo (a salsa of fresh chopped tomatos, onions, cilantro, lime and some hot peppers) they serve before the meal with tortilla chips is delicious and mildly hot. Since I have tried just about everything on their menu, my favorite dishes are the mole poblano and enchiladas in in any style (if you are into that)! Another thing they are excellent in is with their Margaritas! Seriously the best in town...no one compares!!! I travel 1 hour and 30 minutes atleast once or twice a month for their Mole and Margaritas!! Oh yeah.....and if the night is young and starting on a good note, we take the party to their bar/karaoke spot where they will have a dj playing music to dance or sing along to.
I always find parking there, they sit you pretty fast, their mariachi band are the best in town, the waiters speak english and spanish, their prices are very reasonable. Good for group parties but keeping in mind that the space can be a little tight because their chairs are these big wooden mexican/ santa fe looking things and the tables are pretty big and heavy too, plus the place gets full. Paquitos is also great for dinner dates with that special someone, especially because they have 2 seater booths.
I just remembered, the last time I was there, I was sitting at the table across from Matt Damons table. !
Tucked-away restaurant is a neighborhood standout for its Mexican flavors and festive atmosphere.

In Short
This strip-mall restaurant is easy to miss, but it's worth a look at the the over-the-top decor. The dining area is overflowing with every manner of Mexican handicraft and tchotchke, from earthenware to woven tapestries. The food is also worth pulling over for. Cilantro-heavy salsa and light, crisp chips elevate the appetizer beyond the norm. Entrees range from the mandatory burrito, enchilada and taco combination plates to authentic dishes like the green mole with pork.
Margarita lovers this is the place!

Been going there (since '90) when it was just a little ol' building on the side of the road. They're authetic & the best margarita pitchers made with Sauza! (yum!) Homemade salsa... just great!! Food, drinks, everything es mucho bueno!! It's a north Miami secret tucked a way in a corner! "Cheers!"
Good Happy Hour
by funstuff80
Good deals at happy hour (except for the blah, not-too-fresh food at the bar.) Coctail waitresses are very sloooooow, but pleasant. The beer is ice cold, served in a bucket. Margaritas are so-so, but the happy hour prices are super. Stick to the beer-the Mexican beers are all excellent, you can't go wrong. But eat first, because the free food they serve is pretty bad. The restaurant is a step above Taco Bell- not at all spicy-very bland, but it's nice and quiet in the booths.
- Pros: ice cold Mexican beer, good happy hour , clean
- Cons: bland food, slow bar service
