I had gone out of my way to visit this place for over 20 years, but no longer. THe quality of the food has detriorated drastically, the prices have skyrocketed, and the management displays its right wing politics prominently, to the point of being offensive.
- Pros: Been there forever
- Cons: Overpriced for the quality presented
HURRY!!!! WILL CLOSE SOON!!!!

Great Pastrami and Roast Beef sandwiches. (Although now owned by Jerry Famous Deli) Long gone the days when Wolfie Cohen's owned it. This is a one of a kind establishment for you newbies. A throwback to 1954 when it opened. Unfortunately Jerry famous Deli owns it, and as all things Corporate, devoid of any Soul, and all about the mighty dollar, they will demolish it soon. Since Sunny Isles (City where Rascals is), want to go all upscale.
I find this terribly symptomatic of the US landscape today, as everything becomes cookie cutter like, every city has become homogeneous. I could be in CA, to FL, and the commercial landscape is all the same.
Sigh........ Oh well.... for better or worse, that?s progress. Anyways back to Rascals, its great, cause of the ambient, and interesting people whom work there. You just cant find a place that looks and feels like this anymore. Place is a museum in time, and the food great too!!!
Please do not delay in visiting, before it may be to late. This place will be closed and demolished. JFD has approval from the city already.
- Pros: Back in time to 1954.
- Cons: NONE
Great food and human entertainment!

The customers are great to watch. The food is tremendous and you get a lot of it. You even get extras like Cinnamon Rolls, pickles and cole slaw. Really good stuff for foodies.
Patrons can sit in the seat Sinatra once used at this classic New York-style deli.

In Short
Lining up at this landmark deli can be quite time-consuming--especially when the snow birds are down--but it's never dull. Ancient vinyl booths used to seat some of the most famous and infamous, from Frank Sinatra to mob boss Sam Giancana. Popular menu items include the classic corned-beef sandwich, brisket or potato pancakes. After dinner, customers like to take their leftover rolls and danishes from the breadbasket.

rascal house is a resturant which you get more than what you pay for. Before even ordering a tray of the best breads with butter is placed in front of you. accompanied by dishes of either picked beats or tomatos with coleslaw, and pickles. This is enough to make you addicted to the resturant.
When you order is more that possible to share. The potatoe pancakes are huge, and sandwiches come out inches thick with meat. If you still have room for desert and thats something you don't want to miss there cookies are heavenly. But if there not wuiet your things, there are many pastries and cakes to compensate for that.
This is one place you do not want to miss trying!
Rascal House Sits on Laurels

For the last 30 years I've heard so much about the Rascal House. Much less now, but finally I had a chance to go.
The food was mediocre at best, service was slow and indifferent, and the noise was horrid. This in no way holds a candle to the old Wolfie's or Pumpernick's that were once the flagships of Miami Beach. I'd give them a 4.5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
- Pros: Huge Menu, Famous "Name"
- Cons: Mediocre Food, Poor Service, Cost vs Quality

no wonder this place has survived this long. the sandwiches really are huge and tasty and the baked goods are delicious. same old atmosphere and many of the same servers, which proves that you dont always need to change if you have a good thing going. be prepared to wait especially at lunch.
Not sure why it has the hype.

Everybody seems to love this place that I talk to, but I must be missing something. Paying $9 for a marginally average roast beef or pastrami sandwich on grocery store quality bread and no sides seems absurd to me. Menu is very diner-esque with very little to satisfy you if you're not in the mood for meatloaf or a sandwich. I've been several places that may not have been as authentic, but pulled off the "old diner" scene better, and a lot more reasonably priced.
- Pros: lots of meat on sdwch
- Cons: touristy, Overpriced
Dinning in the past!

This is a throw back to the 50's. The decor hasn't changed since they opened in 54 and nor has the wait staff. The menu is huge and full of just about everything you could imagine. We were shocked after we ordered, they brought 4 plates of different types of breads for us to snack on until our entrees came out. The entrees themselves are huge, plenty to take home. Although the food was far from 4 star, it was good and well worth it!
