Fun place to visit!
by Malirocks
I went over to jungle Island in Oct. They have the most uniqe animals like a Cassowary and even a Liger which was very impressive to see. My daughter was able to interact with a baby capuchin monkey as one of the trainers walked by. Very clean park and restrooms. It is very close to the hotel we stayed in South Beach. Also the staff was really really nice. Great place to visit and highly recommend it .
- Pros: close to hotel and airpot
You Take Your Chances - Use Extreme Caution

Although the internet site does note, "Severe inclement weather may affect Jungle Island?s hours.", the sign at the ticket window does not, nor does the sales rep warn you what constitutes severe weather in their mind. We are from Phoenix, AZ (the no rain state) and I hate rain. Yes, hate is a strong word, but true. That being said, after spending $150, we decided to stay even after a few short rain spurts. (If I could handle it, anyone could!) But after only 1 hour there and four hours before the park closing time, we were told everyone had to leave. Management would only offer everyone a 4 day extension back into the park. I requested a refund since the park personnel who told us they were closing the park said we would get one as we were leaving the next day on our cruise. Management not only refused our refund, but was extremely rude to not only me but several other guests in the same situation. I suggest for what you get there (it is a SMALL zoo), you are better off spending your money elsewhere!
You'll find cycling macaws and flirty cockatoos at Miami's world-famous bird sanctuary.

In Short
The bird-loving discovery parkthat Australian businessman Franz Sherropened in 1936moved to the scenic Watson Island in 2003. More than 1,000 feathered friends migrated to the new digs, now with more space for shows, animal exhibits and even a private beach. Here you'll find macaws as comfortable on two wheels as they are in flight.
Great for kids

There are so many birds! I liked seeing all the different species and touring the facilities. I think this would be a great place for kids too.
