Simply Delicious
by saphera
We tried the pad thai and frog leg dish at Tani Thai for dinner, and we were quite pleased. The pad thai was prepared in authentic Thai style, which was deliciously spicy. The frog leg was in basil sauce, and it was succulent.
The ambience was relaxing, and the servers were discreet yet attentive. All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience.
If you want a authentic Thai style food, it may help if your server is from Thailand. That way she is able to help explain it to the cook. Look for a petite lady who walks fast yet always has a friendly smile on her face.
Great food, always cooked to perfection

I have never eaten in the actual restaurant, but I get take out all the time, and the food is great. The people I order from on the phone and at the counter where you pay are very prompt and polite. From walking in there, it looks very relaxing and quiet, you may want to avoid taking rowdy kids.
There may be better Thai cuisine in Miami but not a nicer place to eat it.

The Scene
Unusually stylish for a Thai restaurant in a South Dixie Highway strip mall, Tani's bi-level dining room is a modestly contemporary space done in dark wood, black and teal, with a long mirrored wall, fresh orchids on each table and indoor palms bursting up from ornate Oriental planters. Service is professional and exceptionally friendly, one reason why the restaurant is a real local favorite.
The Food
Like the service and ambiance, Tani Thai's cuisine is pleasant enough, though rather less distinguished. Best dishes are tender, flavorful and generously portioned beef satay, presented on its own miniature charcoal brazier; very good nam sod, a salad of ground pork seasoned with ginger, onion, peanuts and lime juice (ask for it spicy); and simply exquisite "Thai donuts," little balls of dough that resemble puffs of deep-fried air and come with a dipping sauce based on sweetened condensed milk.
Best Thai food in town

A wonderful restaurant with an intimate setting. The decor is tasteful with Thai influences. As soon as you step in the exotic smells permeate your nostrils. This is my favorite restaurant in Miami, and I've visited more than six times so far. Every time I'm reminded why I love this restaurant. The staff is always smiling and refills your water constantly and add rice as needed and the food is delicious. I would love to try everything. Aside from having an extensive menu, everything so far is exquisite. I highly recommend the Satay Chicken as an appetizer and Basil Shrimp as the main course. Not cheap, this restaurant is perfect for special occasions. Expect to pay about $25+ a person. You have to try the fried ice cream for dessert: out of this world. Next time you're in Miami, stop at Tani Thai. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.
- Pros: Nice decor, Intimate setting, Easy parking
