Edda's Cakes

by Elizabeth2345

I had seen the prior reviews written here before going to Cake Designs and at first was hesitant to try them out for my wedding cake, however, I had also heard so many good thing from people I know that I decided to go and see what they had to offer. I was very happy with everything. I set up a tasting appt. and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. My cake not only was delicious it was absolutely beautiful. It was a fondant cake with sugar flowers to match my color theme. It really was the centerpiece of my whole wedding. I was completely satisfied and I will definately be returning agin.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!!!

by needacake

I designed a cake to look like the Daytona racetrack. I was shown a picture of a cake that looked like Dolphin stadium and was told it would look just like it without the front. I gave photos and emailed websites to assure authenticity. I was shown a piece of cardboard the exact size of the cake and was told it would feed 50. I was given a price of $400 and left a deposit of $200 in cash. Upon picking up the cake - I was SHOCKED at the small size of the cake. It was just a bit larger than half of a bundt cake! I asked where the rest of the cake was and was told it was piled one on top of the other. I clearly disagreed-it is impossible to put all that cake on top of each other, without it being two feet high! They immediately offered to give me two round cakes off the shelf so that I would have enough cake to feed all the children at my son's party. I also told her that the I was not happy withthe decorations on the display tray- the racetrack was PURPLE -I asked her to make it either gray or black to look more realistic-it was all I could think of with what little time we had. She was clearly annoyed because other customers were agreeing with me that there was no way to feed 50 people with the size of that cake. When she came out with the racetrack painted gray and with the other two cakes boxed, she proceeded to ask me for the remaining balance of $200. I told her it was not worth it anymore. I was not even given the chance to explain that I agreed to pay $400 for one speicalty cake to look like the Daytona racetrack - not a half specialty cake & two shelf cakes! She took the cake away into the back and told me to leave the store. I told her my son's party was starting in 30 minutes and she didn't care. I asked her for my deposit back and she refused. I called the police from my cell phone and they said they could not force her to give me back my money. I have since found out that I am by far not the only one who has had a bad experience with Eddas.

Cake Designs....Do not use them!

by MiamiMP

I ordered a cake for my boyfriend's birthday which was a union fireman logo since he is a very dedicated fireman. I ordered the cake two weeks in advance and had paid in full. I gave them a printout of how I wanted the cake to look like. The entire theme revolved around the cake. When I went to pick it up....there was no cake. They didn't know what happened to the order. After about 20 minutes they found the paper work but there wasn't a cake. They wanted to make the cake in 1 and a half hours and still charge me the full amount. I refused to have such an expensive cake be done sloppy and pay the full amount. There way to fix things was not to charge me for the delivery! It was their mistake they shouldn't even have charged me for the cake...there are so many other great bakeries in Miami...I will never use them again for ANY cake. They ruined my boyfriend's birthday theme and they didn't even offer to give me a replacement at no cost. After having to ask for a full refund for the 15th time they finally refunded the cost. I ended up going to another bakery and getting another cake!

Edda, Miami's preeminent cake designer has redefined the wedding cake, creating works of art almost too beautiful to eat.

Flour Power
Best known for her vanilla-rum cake, Edda also offers Chocolate, Marble, Lemon, Orange, Amaretto, Grand Marnier and Colombian Fruit Cake. For wedding cakes, though, most stick to the popular vanilla-rum cake—sweet, moist and rich, it makes an impression on your tastebuds. This is not the land of three-tiered cake with a plastic bride and groom on the top. Fresh flowers cascade down beautiful cakes and smooth fondant is manipulated into intricate designs that leave guests ooh-and-aahing.

A Recipe for Success
With over 20 years of experience under her belt, Edda has mastered the art of cake design. Pop into any of Edda's three locations and sample the vanilla-rum cake; call first if you wish to sample one of the other flavors. Make an appointment with Edda or one of her wedding advisors and discuss the details of your dream cake. Cake Designs is eager to customize your order, making sure that your cake is as unique as you are.
