BEST BARGIN FOR SUSHI ON BEACH
by makimonoman
I really enjoy sushi but the beach can be expensive and I found a great reasonably priced sushi bar in Surfside, Florida. $18 for dinner...on the beach...unbelieveable! They serve only dinner but I heard a rumor of lunch returning at the end of the year. Try Sushi Republic!!!
- Pros: Under $20 for dinner. Food & Service is the best!
- Cons: No lunch hours but heard it will towards the end of the year.
Some of the best sushi I've ever had

I live in L.A. but visit Miami often and when I do, Sushi Republic is always on my to-do list! This cute little sushi place is smack-dab in the middle of the sleepy town of Surfside and it's a real hidden gem. On the weekends, watch out -- the narrow hall is jammed with loyal repeat visitors waiting for a spot on one of the handful of tables in the back. The deliciously buttery salmon nigiri is top-notch ( perhaps Atlantic salmon is better than Pacific??) as are the incredible cucumber wrap rolls (no rice) with sublimely tangy ponzu sauce. After dinner, it's fun to walk across the street to stroll along the fabulous Bal Harbour shops or walk up just a few blocks and amble along the beach.
- Pros: Super fresh delicious sushi
- Cons: Really small place
good sushi
by chiquilina
we have gotten take-out sushi from this restaurants on numerous occasions and we have noted that on some of the rolls they have left out the avocado however, the description on the menu says that is does come with it. Many of their rolls have lettuce instead of the avocado and personally I prefer the latter. Overall the rolls are good. I wish they would give some sweet sauce for the eel roll like some other sushi places. The fried rice is not very good-- you may want to pass on it.
great sushi

I have been going here for years and my family loves it.
Get the tiger woods roll or the Bloomberg roll if you like raw tuna and salmon.
Their tuna avocado salad is amazing.
You can see the chef's making everything.
Yes they open at 5:00 but it?s worth the wait for dinner.
It's a small restaurant but they are expanding next door soon!
- Pros: great sushi and very fresh
- Cons: no cons
May be the best, but the hours lost business

My husband wanted to eat sushi for lunch. I check citysearch and see this place is highly recommended. My husband and I head there and what do you know, they are closed. They open at 5pm, so I hope this review keeps you from wasting your time looking for sushi for lunch. As we are standing outside the door, a man and woman did walk out and say "Best food around, but they're not open..." Ok, Thanks! What did work out well was that we walked across to Flanigan's and had a great meal, so it wasn't all a loss. Oh and in all fairness, the menu was posted in the window and my husband was very impressed with the prices and excited to get to eat there eventually. He did say they only have the basic rolls, no specialty rolls.
- Pros: Prices & you can see where they prepare the fo
- Cons: Hours of Operation, Selection of food, Small bar
Best sushi I have EVER had!
by davidbaird
I am a world traveler and huge sushi fan. Nobu in Vegas has nothing on this place when it comes to the food. Presentation, Nobu wins. Quality of food, without a doubt.....Sushi Republic is unbeatable! I tried just about everything from the sushi bar less the specialty rolls. It literally melts in your mouth.....exquisite! The only negative item was the Edamame....wasn't cooked enough, but EVERYTHING else was the freshest thing I had ever tasted sushi wise ever! Must be the Florida coast. Searching for negatives, size of menu is lacking....too many rolls, sushi bar too small. Almost like they don't know how good they are. Any serious fan of fresh sushi has to try this place! Wow...I cannot believe there are not more reviews.....gotta try it!
- Pros: Freshness of sushi, unassuming, relaxing atmosphere
- Cons: little sushi bar, sushi menu too small
Best Japanese

Best Japanese/Sushi in all of dade county. I reccomend getting the Miso soup and the Ginger salad. All of the sushi is delicious and the food feels light on your stomach. Good for lunch or dinner!
- Pros: Good any day, fast service, cheerful enviroment
- Cons: Small, mediocre takeout, invisible front
