User Reviews for Villa Habana Restaurant

I've been going to Villa Habana for around 20 years and it has been ***** all the time. The waiters get things right. and communicate well with the kitchen. If you ask for Masas de Cerdo "un poco suave" they come "un poco suave". (Does the fact that the bread usually comes lightly toasted explain why one reviewer thought it stale?) Once when I ordered Caldo Gallego, it came with no meat. I pointed that out to the waiter who took it back to the kitchen and returned it to me loaded with meat. They truly care about giving good service. The Camarones al ajillo are better than I have had anywhere else. Their fish dishes are consistently better than the competition's, and all the traditional meals are very high quality. And that's why I go back at least once a week year after year. Parking is easy and the attendant is extremely helpful in helping you negotiate backing out of a space.

Villa Habana is the BEST CUBAN FOOD I have tasted in Miami (and I have been to all the big names and a few of the small). The flavor of their BLACK BEANS with a hint of (?) green pepper and thyme is amazing and not to be matched anywhere. Their MARIQUITAS are light and never greasy. Sliced paper thin and fried to gold crunchiness they go perfectly with accompanying dipping sauce of that is a delicious blend of garlic and lemon (flavorful and never harsh or sharp). The service is always polite (whether or not you speak Spanish) and the waiters are old fashioned and professional about the food. Take Out is great, they give you big portions, never skimp, and they never leave out the extras including the bread. This is where I take anyone who has never had Cuban food. It never disappoints.

Pros: EVERYTHING

Cons: Little Known (wait, that's a Pro!) Sometimes you have to park on the street

The food might be cheap but, you get what you pay for. The bread you get to munch on before the meal is stale more often than not, and FORGET about asking for more. We went there (3 guys) & they gave us 4 measly little pieces. (Even though we told them to bring us more than that) One day I decided to order a Cuban sandwich w/ fries, THAT was a mistake. They forgot the fries, though they charged me for them, and the bread looked & tasted like it was a week old. And last but not least, I was speaking w/ the woman who answered the phone in Spanish and she was STILL having a problem w/ the order. Imagin if it was in English???

Pros: Cheap

Cons: U get what you pay 4

In a city full of inexpensive cuban food resturants, few places compare. The quality of the food is always top notch, $5 lunch deals are hard to beat (available until 6PM!), service is always courteous. Once you try this place, it's hard to go anywhere else.

Pros: Inexpensive, Great food

Very good Cuban home cooking. Its not fancy but its not a dump. If you are VERY hungry for cuban food...go here! They definitely fill you up. Good place to go before a movie.

Pros: good food, inexpensive, good for kids

Family-oriented Cuban restaurant where the food matters more than the decor.  See the full editorial review.
