I would recommend South beach Ironworks to anyone who lives in the area, or works on SOBE. I f you are coming from elsewhere and depend on parking ,this may not be the gym for you. Of course that is not the owner's fault, but let's face it, good safe parking is part of the package. Inadequate parking might be a minus to a prospective member. As far as the gym itself is concerned, anyone who is serious about working out will feel at home. Not too many cardio equipment, but weights, machines and dumbbells are abundant. ANother good thing is that you can find a courtesy wipe down station in case the need arises. It is a cool crowd who works out here, no overly loud or obnoxious members. I will tell you this: that muscular woman who works their is a real pain. I think she is one reason why I let my membership expire. Oh and men, use the bathroom before going to this gym, or hold it until you get home. The facilities are disgusting.
Pros: Lots of weights;awesome music pumping; location
Cons: nasty men's bathroom; parking

I checked out this gym when visiting South Beach from NY. I checked out all the gyms in the Miami Beach area to see which one I may want to try to work at when I move down. I am a personal trainer and picky about where I'd apply to. This is hands down the best gym I found in south beach. It was a smaller, more personal gym, nice workout room, everything clean, friendly staff. I don't like the big "cookie cutter gyms" and this is def not one of them. It seems their memberships are very reasonable too. To the person who posted above.. there are going to be weights left out, people taking on the phone and people juicing at ANY gym... that doesn't make it a bad gym. There are annoying people where ever you go, gym, mall, work, etc.. you have to just ignore them and go to do what you're there to do. WORKOUT.. get in your own zone. Thanks for the chance to write a review.
Pros: not too big, clean, nice staff
Cons: i can't think of any

Ironworks has a new owner and is now called SoBe Sports club. The club has undergone extencive improvements, but keep in mind that the standard in Miami Beach is low. People are willing to pay a lot of money for poor quality, just like in New York. If you want to actually work out, SoBe may be your best bet in Miami Beach. It’s basically two large rooms; weights on the first floor and aerobics on the second. The space on the first floor is utilized well with plenty of room to move around and the machines don’t run into each other when they are being used. The equipment may seem antiquated, but it is well maintained. People are personable, but they are there to workout. You might still run into the occasional boy on a cell phone. If you do, just push him out of the way. I would strongly advise not to pay a year in advance. Nothing in Mia mi Beach, including this gym, is stable. Just pay a month or two in advance, and you won’t lose any money if the gym closes without notice, the way other gyms have.
Pros: good energy, well maintained
