We just stayed there last weekend 5/2/08-5/6/08. OMG the ppl whom work there are the BIGGEST a-holes of life. The rooms are the size of your laundry room w/ beds.....seriously..... The only thing great about this place is the location. So if ur just going to sleep, shower & be out this is your kind of place.

Boutique hotel offers reasonable prices close to the action.

The Scene
Warm lighting and simple adornment set the tone at this 1937 art-deco hotel. The phosphorescent green and white lobby is prototypical art deco, with metal hanging fixtures, epoxy-and-aluminum chairs and a patterned terrazzo floor. There's a bar and bistro here, as well as a terrace overlooking the street. The beach is one block away.
The Details
The property has 29 rooms, most with hardwood floors. A potted flowering plant decorates each comfortable and sunny accommodation, but otherwise the interiors are spare. There are no pictures on the walls, the furnishings are basic and the bedding is tasteful and monochromatic--no garish floral bedspreads. The overall feeling is that of a boutique hotel, and each room comes with small refrigerators.
Don't expect what you reserved..

I called the Beachcomber directly to make my reservation for the Suite shown in the picture on their site, with the spacious room and 2 king beds. Upon arrival we were told it wasn't available and we would be moved to their sister hotel, the Nassau, on the next block. The receptionist insisted that the room was nicer, however, when the room was finally ready 6 hours later, we discovered we had only one King and one small double bed for 4 people. I have to question their interpretation of Reservation (if a guest calls to request a specific room, surely you dont go ahead and give it to someone else????) and their policy of downgrading guests upon arrival. They could also do with having enough beach towels for all guests and less surly receptionists.
