Great late night, but a bit pricy
by megsoc
VERY late last night, (in a bit of a drunken haze) I was delighted to find Tmex open, a friendly face at the counter. I was so happy to be eating the Guaco loco chicken taco- (a hard shell stuffed to the brim with goodness with a soft shell wrapped around, stuck with guac) that I almost forgave the price. $12 for two tacos. They're tacos! $12?! Although she did throw in a mini spanish lesson for free...
- Pros: open late
- Cons: expensive
late night eats

Formerly San Loco.
Tacos are good and made to order. The chicken lime soup is also tasty but I would recomend ordering it in the daytime. This place is great for a late night munch!
- Pros: open late
- Cons: not a great sit down place
Doesnt live up to expectations!

What a rip-off! Almost $12 for a burrito? I have traveled the world and never seen a place lik ethis recommended for being affordable and tasty. I found it to be neither!
- Pros: The hot sauce is divine!
- Cons: No taste to the Burritos!
First Stop in South Beach

I live in New England, but I go to Miami quite often. When I am on the plane, I am already thinking about San Loco, I cannot wait to go there for their delicious tacos and burritos. If I go there for five days, I am sure that I go there at some point four out of the five, even if it is at 3am at the end of the evening. Their tacos are perfect; I can't even choose between soft or hard shell, so I have to get both.
It is an extremely casual place, order at the counter, either sit there or at one of the few tables. They do an extensive take out service and do deliver locally. Prices are very reasonable, they do serve beer (they have Negra Modela, my favorite dark Mexican beer.) Friendly staff and customers. You could probably go there in your pajamas if you wanted. Try not to have to use the restroom, it is not too pretty.
- Pros: everything, but mainly the fabulous food
- Cons: ladies room, but really, just plan around it
Great local joint

Great place to grab a quick bite to eat. Tasty tacos, great sauce. Quesadilla a must to order, and always get an ice cold beer. Make this a stop for lunch or dinner.
- Pros: Good food, fair price
- Cons: bathrooms
The place to go if you get the late-night munchies on South Beach.

In Short
It's the spot for club kids, bar and restaurant workers, budget tourists and anyone who needs fresh fast food at almost any hour of the day or night. There are a few tables, but most people order to go. Food doesn't come out fast, but it's worth the wait. Guacamole is fresh and the tacos, burritos, enchiladas and a host of other munchies are zesty and cheap. Salsa comes in "mild," "medium," "serious" and "stupid."
Good Mexican, Great Service
by superstovall
I really enjoy eating here when I have one of my infrequent Mexican cravings. The food is very fresh, the sauces are terrific and the service was the best.
Probably the best meal I had for the money on South Beach. Hopefully with continued business, they will take some more chances with their menu - maybe some pumpkin tamales or ancho brownies?
- Pros: Hot sauces, Great beer selection
