Good Trendy Restaurant!!!
by pnthrs9119
Food was really good and original. Very Pricey- Every appetizer is over 20 dollars and are really small, salads are a great value, fried spinach is amazing, steak and chicken were great, dessert assortment is really good.
- Pros: Food, Ambiance
- Cons: Price, Parking
family style?
by gription
The term "family style" was used by all three of our waitpersons ( the last one certainly doing damage control as the others made some pretty bad mistakes ) to describe the portions. It is not. There is not one single reason the term should be used. The beef tartar appetizer was smaller, more expensive, and way less tasty than ones I've had at four star retaurants in Paris. Sorry, it's true. The main dishes are not large by any standard, except price. There is absolutely no reason this restaurant can justify the high cost of their surprisingly average food. Location is cool, but not that cool. There are better locations with more well designed restaurants that are expensive on the same street. Service was terrible. As a Floridian, I find service to generally not be as good as in some other parts of the country (NYC, Boston, DC come to mind) but this place was just wrong. This restaurant was a huge let down and I can't say that I would recommend going there for any reason aside from laughing at a "wanna be" clientle.
- Pros: laughing at customer base
- Cons: all related to dining out
Wonderful service and great food they desrve their fame
by ziskandar
Wonderfull experience. let me start by saying that we had an excellent waiter who steered us away from ordering too much. I did not think that I could be surprised by a caesar salad yet theirs has a lot of flavor the crackling calamari salad was excellent as well. The spicy torro tuna was an excellent addiion to the salad. As for the entrees the pan seared spicy tuna. They had another entree; i just cannot remember the name. It was strips of rib eye that ewas excellent as well. As for deserts the banana tarte was very good aswell, however next time I would probably stuff my self with the appetizers and entrees and skip desert. We were a party of 11 and everything got there on time and warm. This was in Dec 2007 and not the busiest of times so that probably helped. We had 7 bottles of wine and paid $150 all in. Considering what I paid at other lousy restaurants in Miami it felt like a "deal".
- Pros: Service and quality of the food
- Cons: Pricey.
Avoid China Grill
by savvytraveller
What a huge disappointment!! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at China Grill in Las Vegas a few years ago. So, we decided to make it our last stop on a recent trip to Miami because we thought it would be the perfect ending to the perfect weekend. IT WAS AWFUL. The service was sporadic, the food was marginal, the prices were not acceptable for the sub-par food quality, the atmosphere (80's music and empty room) bordered on depressing and they gauge you for $15 for valet parking, non-inclusive of the tip!! We ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which was bland, flavorless and lacking in chicken. We also ordered the skirt steak accompanied by lobster mashed potatoes. As a child I remember eating potatoes from a box, the kind that required the addition of water. That is what we got. Boxed potatoes with a few pieces of chewy, flavorless lobster. The skirt steak was not memorable and the portion was small. After receiving a substantial bill, we left disappointed and upset that we had made this our last stop in Miami. We were met with..."that will be $15 please" from the valet parker. When we complained to the manager, he acted as though he could care less, because he didn't care. I work in the business and I know that he had the chance to make things right and at least take care of the parking, but he chose not to. Hospitality professionals know that making guests happy is the ultimate goal. STAY AWAY!
- Cons: Food quality, price, service, ambience, decor and valet parking price
Mediocre food and bad service
by foodandwine
I recently moved to Miami Beach from San Francisco and have a somewhat sophisticated pallate especially for Asian cuisine. I was fairly disappointed in the lack of freshness and flavor presented in the dishes. I must say I think PF Changs chain restaurant provides more flavorful dishes that the China Grill, which is not saying much for a four star establishment. I understand that this is not SF or NYC but I think Asian Fusion deserves better representation than this place gives. In addition, the service was poorest I have seen in Miami. I ordered a bottle of Pellingrino for the table and the waiter brought Voss to the table and poured it without as much as asking if the substitution was ok for the table. We refilled our own wine glasses as the waiter was not to be bothered. Dessert menus were flung on the table without any discussion. I will not revisit this establishment in this lifetime nor recommend it to anyone, friend or otherwise. Not a good experience.
- Pros: Decent music
- Cons: Bad service, bland food

by tinafurtado
Being new to Miami i must say i feel the dining is exceptional the atmoshpere the food presentation are amazing and the staff are quite friendly.I recommend the calamari salad and the dry aged beef with the lobster mashed potatoes. The drink are a little pricy but i feel that they are worth it .This is a place where i bring my out of state visitors for great miami dining expieriance. The only other thing i can say is i love it i love it i love it
This SoBe heavyweight turns out fine Pan-Asian cuisine.

In Short
The mostly Asian decor serves to highlight the flamboyant, artfully presented cuisine, delivered politely by the efficient waitstaff. Extravagant, expensive and generally excellent, China Grill's brand East-meets-West cuisine is much imitated but rarely surpassed. Signature dishes include an enormous salad of curly endive and Peking duck bits in a citrusy dressing and smashing ahi sashimi tempura with piquant wasabi sauce.
Overpriced chinese takeout
by huie
The place was nice, lively, trendy but very dark. However, the food was a different story. Don't get me wrong, I thought the dishes we ordered were tasty, particulary the chicken satay appetizer. But the sushi was mediocre and overpriced. Apps were more than $20 each! I expect entrees to be $20 and over, but not usually appetizers. The portions were bigger than usual but still not enough to justify the price they charge.
- Pros: ambiance, trendy, location
- Cons: overpriced
"Amazing Pan-Asian Artistry."
by bigtimela
After entering the famed China Grill, I was astonished beyond the capacity of rational thought for the deliberate display of amazing Pan-Asian artistry. My favorite location in the restaurant, dubbed "The Dragon, was an experience in itself with an array of amazing people on hand. The food looked so spectacular, that I was intimidated to try it. Honestly, the food looked better than most of the female models by the bar that night. Because it was difficult for me to disrupt such a beautiful presentation of nutritional artistry, the ecstasy I knew Id receive by digging into it would be worth the experience. I had to reach for my camera and take a photograph of my meal so I would remember every detail. The Peking duck was so succulent, that my taste buds still quiver at the thought of it. Leave your inhibitions at the door and enjoy. -L.A.
- Pros: Everything.
- Cons: None.

we didn't makr it past the hostess, what an arrogance and lack of personality. we arrived a little late and were refered to a table we didn't like - when we asked for another table, the hostess started lecturing that we were too late and therefore had no right to ask for another table. Sometimes you really don't understand how restaurants recruit hostesses - this will certainly cost them business- we immediately left and found a great Thai restaurant on Lincoln Road
- Pros: none, none, none
- Cons: rude hostess, rude arrogant staff, average
