Great Customer Service, Yummy Food, Awesome Cocktails...

by lawaldie

Had just arrived in South Beach and took a walk from the Gansevoort. Somehow found the Lincoln Rd Mall by chance and decided to take a chance when we saw the menu outside. It was the first time we were asked how the salmon should be prepared. Salmon?!!! Man, I was wondering how good it would be if they paid so much attention to detail. My fiance loved the salmon and I loved the Churassco..I admit I tried her salmon and it was so tender and flavorful..mmmmm..But best of all was the Margarita del Mar (served in a martini glass)..I thought it might not be enough but it was the Best margarita I have had and not watered down like any drink you pretty much find in South Beach..I ordered 2....Great Experience. Be prepared to spend approx. 150 dollars to 200 dollars for two....it was totally worth it.

Flavorful authentic Cuban

by black9971

We loved this restaurant. Based on past reviews from 2006 and before, we assume this restaurant is now under new management or has a new chef de cuisine. Let me first say that we ate here during Miami Spice, which is basically Restaurant Week everywhere else but lasts 2 months in Miami. The prix fixe menu is smaller portions of appetizer, entree and dessert for $36. The waiter was a little resistant to us ordering off the Miami Spice menu, which is only to be expected considering the differences in price. Once we asked for the menu a second time and were clear, he warmed up considerably. The person who complained about mineral or sparkling water must have never been to a nice restaurant before because everyone knows that's a standard "upsell" question asked by waiters. We ordered a bottle of white wine off the wine list, but they were out of it. So he recommended a bottle only $2 more that was good. The bread was a bit chewy and tough, but the herbed butter was nice. My sister got the tasajo, which was good. I got the Spanish piquillo peppers, per our waiter's recommendations, which was delicious! We both got the churrasco, which we both really enjoyed. We also both got the chocolate tres leches cake, which was very moist and yummy. Since the portions were smaller, we felt perfectly content but not stuffed at the end of the meal.

  • Pros: great food, good location on lincoln road
  • Cons: pricey

it was just right...

by ramosger

I have just returned from Miami and my 1st night there I decided to give myself a treat. Yucca was just right.

I had a passion fruit (parcha) mojito that was fabulous and an appetizer as my meal which was just the right portion since it was already 10pm. I had the Seafood Puteria and it was certainly tasty, not bland. I will also add that the presentation was just as good and made my dinner even more of a treat.

Being right on Lincoln Rd gives you the opportunity to eat something, enjoy it and as a bonus, you get to do some people watching. Enjoy it!

  • Pros: outdoor/indoor seating, people watching, good mojitos
  • Cons: try more things on the menu

The high-priced Nuevo Latino cuisine surprises diners accustomed to traditional fare.

by Contributor

In Short
The who's who of local power and politics dines here; table-hopping is common. Yuca's change in ownership (original co-founder Ephraim Vega sold his share in order to open the now-defunct Maya) and a succession of chefs haven't had too adverse an affect on the menu. Points should be given for the imaginative cuisine--a crisp plantain basket filled with shrimp and conch, or a pan-seared tuna with coconut curry rice, for example.

don't waste your time or money

by algonzalez

Yucca is not only ridiculously overpriced, but its food is far below mediocre. They should be ashamed to butcher Cuban cuisine in Miami. Portions were small, as was the flavor. I'll give them credit for creativity, but there's a difference between simply putting interesting foods together, and putting interesting foods together to achieve interesting flavors. I really don't understand what all the hype is about, I was extremely disappointed.

  • Cons: bland, expensive

Poor service

by optical

This would have been a wonderful experience if not for the snooty waiter. It started when we decided to have two appetizers and split an entree - we are not big eaters - we do not live in Florida so could not doggy bag leftovers and I will not waste food.

First thing the waiter says - we have a charge for splitting entree - fine with us we said. After that he proceeded to slam stuff on the table - the rest of the staff like the girl that brought our drinks and dessert, the hostess were incredibly charming - but the rude waiter ruined it.

I would not go back or recommend this place because good service is very important at the prices Yuca charges.

Tourist Trap

by sfreud

What can I say about a place that serves glorified TGIF's cuisine at 5 star prices? How are they getting away with this? I'm only in town for a couple of nights, and was looking for innovative Latin cuisine. This is most definitely not it. Terrible food. Mediocre slop.. Stale bread. Stale plantains. Overcooked fish. No flavor. And at $30 an entree?! Give me a break. Please, please, PLEASE do yourself a favor and walk the three blocks to pacific tide. A vastly superior restaurant well worth the prices they charge. Yucas inspiration and concept is a good one, but their execution is a joke. When you walk away from a restaurant feeling insulted, it is not a good sign....SKIP IT.

  • Pros: decent atmosphere, professional staff
  • Cons: TGIF glorified food, WAY overpriced

surprising yet fullfilling experience. The music show on Saturday nights was awesome.
