Watch your bar tab!!
by TomA123
I?m giving Joe Allen?s 2 stars because of the habitual over charging by the bartenders. The restaurant is somewhat like an upscale diner and you can eat and drink at the bar as well as at a table. The food is good, if little bland and predictable, but reasonably priced.
If you simply drop by for a drink, ask to see a written tab before you leave because the bar staff seem to routinely pad the bill when you ask them how much you owe and especially when they see you?re paying with cash? this has happened to me three times over the last year and when I challenged them on it the last time, they simply apologized for the mistake. It?s a pity, the whole situation make me feel uncomfortable in an otherwise very pleasant restaurant.
- Pros: Good food, Good Prices
- Cons: Overcharging t the bar
Great Daytime Bar Service!
by jgarza1
After missing Anita the bartender, I ate there last week, they have hired a new daytime bartender named Kelly, Not only did I have prompt service, great food, but what a pleasure to talk to an intellegent bartender, she was very polite, funny and entertaining. My whole experience was wonderful and I will eat at the bar for now on when Kelly is working. What a great addition to the restaurant!

ANITA MAKES JOE

When you go to Joe Allens do yourself a favour & ask for Anita, she makes the best drinks in the island & has the attitude of a great friend.
Thanks Anita!

In Short
Outside, it's a squat, bunker-like building that's easy to drive by without noticing. But it's a microcosm of Miami Beach: Young and old, gay and straight, terminally hip and pocket-protector geek all chow down on well-prepared and well-priced comfort food. The menu boasts a few fancy dishes, but it's really about hearty, homey standbys, like burgers, meat loaf, and liver and onions with bacon, whispy fried onion strands, mashed potatoes and garlicky sauteed spinach.
Treasure!!!

Away from all the SoBe CRAP! Just really good food, great prices and fairly good service.
Drinks are very good-better than any SoBe spot! Liver's EXCELLENT, steak's not bad, mashed potatoes-just like momma made! Plenty of FREE parking and NO ATTITUDE! What a Treasure.
- Pros: variety, good quality food, lots of parking
DISAPPOINTING
by rhoch10199
I was very disappionted with the experience and especially with JoeAllen's manager. After we informed the staff that we had miscalculated how many people would be in our party, the manager verbally berated our table in front of the entire cramped restaurant. We were happy to add another chair to our table to seat our extra friend who had not yet arrived. This arrangement would have only sacrificed our own comfort but not at all been in way of other patrons or staff. The manager was rude towards our group and told us if this extra person showed up, he would have to "kick us out". We were all stunned at how hostile he was. There would have been many other ways to get his point across without making a scene and making threats. Our table left in shock, as we were not about to give this restaurant our money.
deplorable service
by ja1787
as a business owner myself i was very disappointed by the horrible customer service i received. the host was extremely rude and unprofessional so much so that i chose to leave. i would not recommend this place to anyone who is interested in being treated with respect.
- Cons: , bad service, expensive
south beach sans attitude
by trinialto
When's the last time you can remember a great meal with excellent service and no "south beach attitude"? Here the waitstaff treat you like "guests" without all the usual So-Be BS. Try the liver-it's simple, but great! The drinks are also worth getting excited about. (again, VERY non So-Be...not watered down) To make it all complete, there's plenty of parking. Go for the food, stay for the ambiance.
- Pros: good food, professional service, good parking
Joe're in for a Purdy experience...
by vazco
On the beach and no parking problem? On the beach and no "attitude" from "wannabe" waiters? On the beach and a fair value for a great meal? Only at Joe Allen's!
Selections are basic, but make everyone happy..steaks, pasta, burgers, pizza's, seafood..You want it?, they got it!
Excellent bar with old fashioned touches (do you ever see hard boiled eggs anymore?). Attentive and proffessional staff bring ut solid and hearty meals, On a recent visit, the brusheta app was sublime. The stuffed Floundered, well, floundered, but the salmon more than made up for it. Burgers are solid, steaks are avove average, for a non-steak house. Plum pudding and Rice Krispy caramel deserts stand out.
Dont bring the kiddies, you' be cheating yourself of a cool, refreshing dining experience.
- Pros: consistent quality, great vibe, good value
- Cons: rezzies run late, no more than 4, or youll wait
