This is our favorite restaurant for local dinner. Matter of fact we really go out of our way (approx. 7 miles) to eat here. Always dependable. Always delicious. A good menu with large variety. Excellent service. Ask for Jesus or Eddie.

  • Pros: Everything good.
  • Cons: There are none.

GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD RESTAURANT

by cachita at Citysearch

I've been eating at the Village Cafe Restaurant for the last 4 Years. I've known the previous two owners (Curtis & Gido) and met the current one. My husband and I eat a lot in restaurants and our experiences there have been satisfactory and pleasent every time. Did I mentioned it is near our house?

I love their food, specially the Duck served with an orange sauce and also the crab cake is one of the best ( as an appetizer or in a wrap for lunch) . The servers are always helpfull and friendly, some of them have been there for more that three years... Since the new owners took over, I've noticed a better quality and quantity on the plates, but hey that is my opinion!. I am sorry to hear that some people did not like the place! BUT I DO RECOMEND EATING THERE!!

we know the restaurant for a long time, we eat lunch time and dinners with the old owners and we talk with them..i remember Jhon,Gido or something like this, actually is a italian name, but the guy was from south america,Curtis....and this one...we don't know...just we don't like this guy....the food was from good to poor....on the last 6 month everything was comming down....the service, the quality the cleaning!!where is the inspector????????????

just i remember the old paninnis....the old bread....the old qualities!!!!

i don't recommend to any one....just to the people who want to expend money a lot of money in a average food, you know here in Miami we have a loot of restaurantes...and we paid less than Village Cafe...

8 $ for a glass of wine?!!!?!??!?!?!less than a half glass!!! please!! we like good food...good prices...i don't care if a pay 100 $ in a dinner or 60 for a lunch...but please!!! old owners come back!!!!!

  • Pros: Easy to see, because is in the corner, near to our home
  • Cons: need more light,parking space,service, cleaning...bathroom...roaches....

Avoid this place like the plague

by rosyandmatthew at Citysearch

My husband and I went to this establishment three times and we decided to never go back again. First time it was ok but not great. My lobster ravioli, as I was told, was in reality crab ravioli that had some of the shell of the crab uncleaned and it was very salty by the way. Second time around we ordered house wine. I don't mind spending money on my food or wine but I think that $8.00 for a small glass of bad house wine in a neighborhood joint were people come with their screaming kids and in shorts and t shirts is a bit much. The third time we decided that was it! We ordered sparagus au gratin. We got sparagus with balsamic vinegar!!!!!!! the food was so salty the following day I could not wear my wedding band. I pesonally think that $80.00 for one apetizer, two entrees(chicken breast with mozzarella and mushroom with canned beef stock), one desert (chocolate lava cake with no lava in it it was a dry frozen cake from Sara Lee) and two glasses of house wine is a bit much. We don't mind spending the money but for $80.00 I rather go to a La Provence downtown Miami and get better food, better wine and much much better service. Or anywhere else for that matter. This place has an X on my food calendar!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want you to think that I am very critical but my husband happens to be a food photographer and deals with the best chefs in the area. Boo hoo for this place.

  • Pros: Close to home
  • Cons: Lack of parking, bad food, bad wines, bad service.
