About a 10-minute drive from the Art Deco district that's ground zero for most tourists, the Miami River Inn caters to more adventurous travelers. It's locatied in a mixed-use, ethnically diverse neighborhood on the banks of Miami's working river.

The Details
Restored in the 1980s by community activist Sallye Jude, the Inn provides all the necessary amenities in a tropical setting. There are 40 rooms in a total of four cottages. Rooms have hardwood floors and are individually decorated with antiques. Children are welcome (as are pets, with proper reservations).
