Awful on so many levels! Stay away from Hotel Shelley. Doing my part in helping others avoid this place! Warning, this place does the BAIT AND SWITCH on you. We chose this place for the "free" shuttle to the airport, but they called 1 hour before our flight and said, "the shuttle broke down"...so we have to pay for a taxi ourselves. No offer or apologies or anything from anyone. Make sure to call to get your own taxi cause you don't want the one they will get you. I learned this from a past experience. Another overcharge that I don't ever want to pay again.

We also chose two beds in our reservation, but when we got there, the desk person told us two beds was only a 'preference' and that we would have to pay an additional $40 per room for the extra bed that we signed up for. wth???

The rooms were soooo small and barely had any light. One room smelled horrible and the other room's a/c barely worked. Imagine giving a dilapidated hotel a nice paint job and that's what you're getting here. Key cards worked on the tenth swipe. You could hear neighbors talking and doors being slammed all the time. Oh yeah, I was sleeping in the bed and the door just opens up and then closes....I have no idea who it was. After reading the post about the burglary here, maybe I was staying in the same room and thankfully I was in the room at the time.

If you want ice, you will have to cross the street to the Chesterfeld hotel. If you want beach towels, you will have to walk across to the Chesterfield. They didn't even make any offer to get it for you. Oh yeah, the tv in the room had 12 channels I believe.

The bar downstairs charged $24 for 3 coronas and gratuity was automatically included. Bartender was friendly, but way overpriced!!!

Staff comes and go, but the ones we dealt with had terrible customer service. We couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. I hope this review helps others!

Pests in your bed!. Never ever stay at this place! It is dirty, noisy and smelly, hotel staff barely speaks English, and to top it off ? you?ll have c-o-c-k-r-o- a-tch-e-s dancing over you at night while you sleep! Also be ready to bring some home with you in your bag! This place should not even get one star ? it is a very cheap motel.

BURGLARY AT SHELLEY, AVOID THIS PLACE!. I stay at hote Shelley from Jan. 2-9. My nightmare started one day previous to my departure, as I walk into my room all my valuable belongings were gone, Ipod, some clothing, cell phone, jewerly and my laptop which I couldnt place in the safe box due to its

size. In the laptop all my work, lost everything!

To my frustration next day the manager named Daniel Mafra showed up (late)

saying that the hotel wasnt responsable for my belongings which I already knew.

He didnt sound very much interested in at least talk to the employees to find

out who was working that shift and if someone saw anything. In fact I just

received an e-mail on Jan. 24th from him saying that an "International

investigation" were made (According to him the magnetic door chip were sent

somewhere to verify if someone had gotten into my room by the time I was out)

and mention that noone have gotten into my room (what a joke!). I went there

next day to check if the locker was really removed. It was in the same place and

the room rented out. I strongly think hotel employees are envolved

in this matter, why on my last day there? why during the time I was out daily?

Another possibility is that the maids (usually come back later in the day to

bring towels which is delivered late at the hotel ) left the door opened.

Talking to one of the front desk employees I discovered that it wasnt the first

time it happened in that hotel, even recently, which was later comfirmed by

Miami Beach Detective Mr. Robinson who is investigating the case, according to

him guests from this place have been robbed in many occasions.

Iam going throught this until the end and want to find out who entered my room

and stole my belongings!

I strongly suggest anyone to avoid this place, unless you want to take the

chance.

.. Wow, I guess the hotel requested that my review be removed since it isn't the most flattering. But I am reposting it because it must be known that this hotel is a half-star establishment! I had an awful stay last week. After the first night, I found termites all over the bathroom. Creepy and crawly, they were flying around everywhere. When I told the front desk, they acknowledged it like they were knew about it all along. Moved me to another room but they weren't really sorry and didn't comp me for the inconvenience and dreadful experience. The darks halls reeked and the breakfast was terrible. The showerhead needs to be replaced -- i get more water out of the sink faucet than in the shower. Overall, I will never stay here again!

Interesting place. This is a cool hotel, that is super trendy, but affordable for almost anyone. We loved the manager. She was so sweet, and made a stay so welcoming. We loved having drinks at the bar, and watching the football games on the big screen TV in the lobby. It was a really great atmosphere and we indulged on the white couches with orange and green pillows. Breakfast was great too, and since it was free we were able to spend more in the banana republic right on the corner. Also make sure to check out the great art stores in the area. We found amazing souvenirs to take home with us.

SoBe on Budget. Stayed at this hotel for NYE 05. The room was clean but very worn (I felt like I was staying at a hostel). I was going to give this Hotel a lower rating, but for the price (South Beach is amazing overpriced) and location it can't be beat. The cool lobby, staff and the happy hour well drinks (albeit Popov Vodka) more than make up for the shabby accommodations. Besides who really sleeps in their hotel room??? You can always catch up on sleep at the beach...

My best place in South Beach. I have been traveling quite often to Miami since year2000, every time I go I stayed a the Hotel Shelley, and all I have to say is good things about it, I really love the lobby area and the rooms are nice and cozy with a nice art deco style, I always had a pleasant time there, hotel staff is great helpful and friendly, rooms are always clean with full of amenities(Stereo cd players, hairdryers, iron iron boards, digital safes, voice mail, cable TV etc etc) great breakfast, and unbelievable free happy hour for hotel guests. Now that they are offering free transportation from the airport, it will make my stay more pleasant. I strongly recommend anyone traveling to south Florida to stay at the Hotel Shelley.

HOTEL SHELLEY. I stay for my vacation with 2 girlfriends at the Hotel Shelley, we had a problem to check in with the reservation but the girl at the front desk was nice and helpfull, the room was clean and nice but the a/c was not working really well, so we change for another room and everything was ok, we have the best time at the open bar, the bartender was great and hooked us up with the best party's and clubs.

We really had a goog good time with my friend

I can't wait to plan my next vacations in miami and I'll be at the shelley
