Editorial Review for Daffy's – by Lauren McCutcheon

In Short
Fashionable finds sell at discount prices in a building which once housed one of Philadelphia's most exclusive department stores. Shoppers find last season's DKNY Jeans and CK collections, overruns from Jones NY and Cynthia Rowley--even haute-couture seconds from Milan. (Iceberg, John Galliano, and Missoni sell for hundreds off their original prices.) Big discounts on last season's styles and designer seconds don't come easy, however. Shoppers who try on before they buy have to change clothes in communal dressing rooms.

Insider Tips

When to Go

It's most crowded during lunch hours: Sneak out of work early to give yourself more elbow room.

The Extras

Daffy's restocks early each week, so return as often as possible to check out the racks of new arrivals.

Know Before You Go

Don't even think of boarding the elevator with unpaid items: You must purchase goods on the floor where you found them.

I used to go to New York to shop at Daffy's. It is hands down the best discount clothing store for high quality merchandise and ridiculously good prices. I have found $300 Italian jackets for $29.95. Some sizes go fast and especially in transitional times when the next season's merchandise isn't in yet, the selection can be limited. But in general, it's a great place to shop.

Pros: Incredible prices on high quality merchandise

Cons: Selection can be limited, parking in Center City is always challenging

Since you have closed your location in northern virginia, I have had to drive to the next closest location which is in philadelphia. I shopped there this sunday the 29th and found the store to be very busy and crowded. Kudos to you for the volume of shoppers but I suffered from arriving too late in the day to pick up any really great deals (I still spent about 100 dollars for home goods). Anyway, the staff was cordial and efficient even while handling a computer glitch in the system. The security guards assisted me in locating my friend and were very professional when they told my friend he could'nt have his drink in the store. And would you please turn down the heat. We were burning up in there! Lastly, please reopen the site in Virginia so we can have access to some good fasions at great prices without having to drive three hours. P.S. my friend insists that I tell you that she adored the imaginative and colorful window displays at the Virginia location.
