Editorial Review for Golden Gate Hotel – by Gayot.com

The Scene
This 1900s Edwardian hotel has only been a family-run bed-and-breakfast since 1986, but it's full of century-old nostalgia including claw-foot tubs, birdcage elevator and antique furniture. A fantastic location for tourists, it's a quick walk to Union Square, Chinatown and the cable car route to Fisherman's Wharf.

The Details
Happy guests enjoy complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea while schmoozing with the friendly innkeepers and Captain Nemo, the hotel's cat. The 23 unique rooms are furnished with wicker furniture, antique accessories and Laura Ashley floral bedspreads. Fresh flowers and bay windows add to the bright and garden-like feel of the rooms, all of which are decidedly feminine.

This is the second time my mother and I have stayed at this hotel, and we love it! It reminds us of the wonderful European B&B's we have stayed in. For the area (walking distance to all major tourist areas), the price cannot be beat. The rooms are quiet, clean, beds are comfy, and we enjoyed our mornings with deliciously strong coffee, croissants, and fresh OJ-brought to our room by the gracious proprietor. A wonderful experience all around!

Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly!!, Charming
