Versailles is Miami. If you live in Miami you should visit Versailles for dinner, lunch, and morning coffee on the weekends.
A MUST SEE.
Everytime a friend from out of town we stop here. The food is fantastic, great portions, hot and fast.
The atmosphere is just right- friendly, not uptight.
Be sure to try them out. You won't be disappointed.
Shame. Whoever thinks that Cuban food should be greasy and mediocre is just utterly wrong. Clearly, the cooks at this restaurant seem to think it should be. I took a friend to his first introduction to Cuban cuisine and I was slapped in the face by the poor quality of the food. I've been going to this restaurant for years and it always had a great appeal, but I'm afraid those days are long gone. Somebody is definitely sitting on their laurels and riding the name of this establishment. A few points to address - The fried plantain dish has obviously shrunken over time (clearly not meant for two people) and yet, the price is just about the same, if not more. These may be hard times, but plantains are far from being pricey. Their moros rice had to be the saltiest version I have ever tried. Unfortunately, water refills were lacking throughout the evening! Sad to say, but this is one Cuban that may not be returning for quite a long while.
Pleasant Dinner. While vacationing in Miami my friends and I got with several of our taxi drivers and told them we wanted to experience authentic Cuban food.. Everyone recommended Versailles to be the happening place for us to par take in. We were very pleased with the atmosphere eventhough we do not speak Spanish fluently it was an amazing atmosphere and the price was exceptional!!! We are already planning our next trip to Miami just for the visit to Versailles!!!!
Angry-Vehicle Broken Into. The food is good, but my locked vehicle was broken into with 2 Versailles parking attendants standing watch. This was at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon!! I spoke to management (Raul Alonso) and he couldn't care less. He told me Miami is a dangerous place and that I would have to sue them. Didn't even have the decency to offer to pay for my lunch! None of the Versailles parking signs say anything about "Park at your own risk." I'll never go there again. Try Havana Miami Restaurant on Miller Drive. Much nicer environment and better food.
Why don't they speak English at this place?. I don't normally write a review of place I have never been but I was looking for a good cuban restaurant in Miami and was interested in going to this place until I read the reviews. Alot of them pointed out the lack of english speakers... isn't this in the US? Why don't they speak english? I don't think I will go there now, not that they will miss me but hopefully someone from the restaurant will read this and realize they are alienating people by not putting an emphasis on having nice, english or at least bi-lingual servers....
Worst Customer Service. Recommended highly by a physican I work with. Geographically impaired, we attempted to get directions from South Beach. The man, who only spoke Spanish hung up on me three times. As soon as he told me he did not speak English, I communitcated to him in Spanish. He claimed he knew nothing about directions, and after my fourth call, at my insistence e put me on to an 'English speaking' person. She refused to speak English to me, citing I spoke good Spanish, had no geographical input, and when I asked for the manager, she too hung up on me! We went to Sazon on Collins Avenue instead & enjoyed the best Cuban meal we have ever had. All staff were attentive, polite and grateful to have income generating clientele!!!
Good food but needs to screen waiters. I've always made sure to bring out of towners to this place to experience REAL Cuban food. The service is quick, the food is GOOD. On March 25 at around 7pm or so, my husband and I went there once more to bring a guest. Our waiter, EVELIO, definitely could use more training on asking for your orders, on responding to questions regarding certain food items, and REMEMBERING your order. He was rude to our guest almost dismissing his question about the type and cut of chicken in one of the dishes; he plopped the food down on our table; he forgot my salad, then later, my husband's coffee (and argued that my husband did not order the coffee). He was, no way near what a waiter should be. I'm not sure if he discriminates among his customers. If he does, he should not be a waiter in such a famous place, where people from all cultures come to enjoy Cuban food. Evelio does not represent what Versailles is. It was an unpleasant evening.
Authentic food, authentic Cuban feel- Service is HORRIBLE.... I live in Miami and am of Cuban decent. The food for the most part, is very good and authentic. Be prepared to wait a long time for service and you basically have to hunt down your server. You can survive with speaking english though if you can speak spanish your experience will probaly go smoother. This place is perfect if you want a true feel for Cuban food and the old Cuban culture of the men outside drinking coffee and talking poiltics. Coffee is amazing and everything is priced VERY reasonable. I recommend it but please go in mind with knowing you will receive bad service. I hope management can work on it.
