The Amatruda family's first stateside outpost of its decades-old pizzeria chain is in Biscayne's Upper East Side, cranking out thin Neopolitan-style pies in a bright mod dining room, where shiny white walls are laced with quotes from Italian celebrities and luminaries. The lemony order counter is backed by the stone oven where the signature multi-grain dough is topped with imported Italian tomato sauce, olive oil, meats and cheeses. Pepperoni, spicy salami and Italian sausage are the toppings of choice, though prosciutto, mushrooms and a ham and pineapple-topped pie are available. It's cool to vanquish half of a takeout order in the dining room, judging by the jingle of half-empty boxes on the way out.
