Worst Value For The Money in the U.S. – I booked a single night as I was overnighting in Maimi on the way to St. Barths. When I booked, I was told that for $1520 a night I was getting a one bedroom suite on the club floor. When I checked in, the first room they put me in was a single small bedroom, no bath tub, a handicap shower, with a view of a construction site. After complaining, they moved me next door to a larger room with a alcove dining area. While this room did have a bath tub, the tub was small, ugly, in the bedroom and sitting about 2 feet in front of the bed! The flat screen tv was tiny and they had no pay per view. Floors were scuffed. Lights wouldn't brighten enough to read anything. Room service food was good and came quickly, but menu very limited (4 ish appetizers and 5 entrees). Despite calling twice, they never came to pick tray back up. The Butler service was intrusive, once walking directly into my room without knocking or ringing the door bell. Most of the staff is Asian, and most speak and understand very little English--clearly not enough to be proficient at their jobs. This is surprising as when I travel in Asia and stay at 5 star hotels I never have this problem. Fire alarm on my floor went off repeatedly. Finally, when it went off just after midnight I called the operator who said she didnt know anything about it. I then asked for the manager on duty who first told me she didn't know anything about it, then tried to say it was routine testing (after midnight in a hotel). She seemed put out when I suggested she send security to see if perhaps our floor was actually on fire. At best, this was a $500 to $700 per night hotel room. It definitely was not a $1520 per night room (and I regularly stay in $1500 a night rooms so I have a broad frame of reference.) This doesn't compare remotely to any of the Aman Resort Properties I have stayed at (including Aman Yara last February which was amazing).
Stunning, stylish hotel is a Zen palace in the middle of South Beach. – In Short
When Setai opened in late 2004, it became a contender for the title of most luxurious hotel in Miami Beach. Softly lit and decorated in dark wood and black granite, the hotel is a mood-calming oasis in the middle of raucous SoBe. The 133 well-appointed rooms spread through two buildings and feature Swedish Duxiana beds with Irish linen sheets, yoga mats, Lavazzo espresso machines, flat-screen plasma televisions and Bose surround sound.
One of the Most Beautiful Bars EVER – Being from New York it takes a lot to impress me. That being said, the rooftop bar at Setai is one of the most beautiful bars I've ever seen. The bar is actually inside the hotel with the pool and lounge area set up alongside a long rooftop pool. The decor is natural, minimalistic, not futuristic. People are very trendy and attractive. Drinks are extremely expensive with a regular drink averaging $14 and top shelf drinks $16 each and up. It's expensive but, you only live once and Setai is definately worth the experience.
Grab a tropical drink and soak in the sun and watery fun at this elegant poolside bar – In Short
Blessed by a beachfront location, this outdoor watering hole features surf-and-turf views with a wide 90-foot bar that runs the length of the ritzy hotel's pool deck. Sandwiches and light Mediterranean fare are served during the day. Enjoy your libations under the covered bar or take in some rays by sipping away on a padded chaise lounge chair under the palm trees.
