Tips for Femme Coiffure Hair Spa

Vacation Makeover. So I was on vacation and decided to get a great hair cut. I walked in and everyone was very nice. I decided to get a pedicure while I waited. The girl was very nice and did an excellent job. Rafael came over and checked out my hair. He decided there was too much color and I needed to remove it. It was too dark. In comes the colorist. Also nice. They explained how removing color is the hardest thing to do in hair (chaching). They also said it was really dry and I needed a gloss and a Brazilian blow out (chaching chaching). I did try and explain that when I blow my hair it does not look dry. I had just washed it and when it air dry's it looks a bit frizzy. Rafael said that with the Brazilian I could just wash and go. Well that sounds great!!

Well, 5 1/2 hours later they finally finished. It did look good. Very shiny and straight. Never showed me the back. So I go to pay and I'm told $1500!! I was like are you kidding? I knew the hair cut would be about $300. Which it was even though he barely cut it. I asked for more of a cut and he said he liked it as is. The color was $500. When I got home I could see the back was 20 shades lighter than the front. I guess that's why they didn't show me the back at the salon. The colorist did spend the most amount of time. The Brazilian was $700. Which is CRAZY!! Definitely my fault for not asking. Everywhere else charges an average of $350. Here's the real kicker. I wash my hair and I STILL have to blow it. It make no difference. I did try and call the salon 2 times to question this. I was told Rafael would call me back to discuss. Never did. Unfortunately I live in NY and could not go in. When I checked the Brazilian blowout website, they explain the process. $700 and Rafael only did some of the process. He stopped at the flat iron and never did the rest.

In the end. My advice is to stick to what you want to do and ask prices. Not only did I get charged double for the blowout that never worked, but my hair grew in and my roots are way darker. Now I have to redye the whole head again. They were wrong about the color. If the color was right, $500 would have been okay considering the time put in. I do take some of the blame for trusting them and not asking prices.

The best part was the pedicure that lasted longer than most.

A pushy salon gouges tourists. While at a conference I needed a mani/pedi and found this place online near my hotel in South Beach. Walking in the owner was smiling at me and staring at my highlights, which he and a stylist agreed were greenish. I told him I had no time for color but he promised it would be done by the time I was through with my nails. Not only untrue by 90 minutes, making me late for dinner, but the color and hair trim they pressured me into cost my over $550! I almost fainted. What are you going to do once your hair is wet and they've started the color? At least I didn't buy the products they were trying to sell me.
