There are two sides to everything
by MiamiTerminal
Miami Terminal has recently gone under management change due to deals made between clients who were kept off the books and the previous management. We have no desire to hold anyone’s product. In April (’09) we came across a Superior Dairy shipment and were told this was her first shipment. Upon investigation, we later found out that she had shipments delivered to our facility back as far as the summer of ’08. This was verified by the shipping documents from Seaboard Marine. As our investigation continued we requested proof of payment from Irene Downing of Superior Dairy. She never acknowledged our requests until Mid- June when she tried to pull out all of her remaining product. She finally faxed over cancelled checks and invoices. One check she had made out to herself. Another was made out to cash and when we went to her bank to find out if our employee cashed it, we found out it was cashed by Gabriela Downing, her daughter. She also told us that she paid cash for one invoice but she didn’t remember who she gave it to. We have no use for her product and we would love to release, but until she provides proof of payment we can not turn over her product. For reference to any potential future client our company policy is and always has been: we DO NOT accept cash for storage/handling. If you have any information or would like to contact us about this or any other matter, please call and ask for Lee Sigler.
Beware of storing perishables in this location
by SuperiorDairy
My company exports and comercializes dairy products throughout the US. We have used Miami Terminal several times and had few problems. On our last shipment, however, we found our perishable products being detained because they have had internal thefts of monies. The General Manager, appointed by the owner, Mr. Sigler to collect funds and manage the location was pocketing monies paid by customers. We explained this is not our concern or problem. We are customers paying for a service. They indicated this is not their problem and will not release cargoes. By then, our products will have spoiled. CUSTOMER BEWARE. You too could find yourself and company jeopardized by the poor accouting and management controls at Miami Terminal Cold Storage located in Doral, Florida.
- Pros: Centralized location
- Cons: Poor handling of perishable products
