Organic kitchen gets into a heart-healthy groove.. True to its name, this is a "green" place to eat. Beyond the locally-sourced and organic ingredients, other eco-friendly features include cups and silverware that are either recyclable or biodegradable. Food is served on baskets, wood bowls and bamboo trays. There are just a dozen or so seats, but lounging around wouldn't help the environment either. Most of the orders are "to go" anyway. The breakfast menu offers multigrain bagels, yogurt parfaits, and organic veggie Panini sandwiches. Lunchtime eats feature eggplant and hummus spinach wraps, chicken curry salads, plus daily soups, raw vegan and hot plate specials.

Just moved to a BIGGER & GREENER location! 327 Alhambra. Owned and operated by a Mom and daughter duo that have created one of the most delicious, healthy, organic, eco-friendly and friendly cafe in Miami. It is my favorite place to start the day with the delectable coffee (all organic) and the daily specials are scrumptious. It feels like the kind of place that you find in San Francisco, New York or Seattle…their vegan dishes are AMAZING and really make you wonder how we have grown to depend so much on animal products when there are so many tantalizing vegan options out there. Sign up for their mailing list and get a discount when you e-mail your order. Eco-friendly, Fresh and Organic applies to every possible aspect of the cafe (even the paint). More places should follow the lead although it is hard to match Green Gables.

The service / attitude / approach matches the spirit of the food. No matter what you order, Green Gables puts attention to the smallest detail. One of the few places in Miami where the food is great and the service spectacular. There is very little that they won't do for a customer and no customer is too demanding for them (and if they are it doesn't seem like it). They often stay open way past close as customers keep rushing in. they're always happy to accommodate special requests and answer any questions right away. There’s no particular item I can recommend, every bite is exquisite, exciting and good for the earth.
