Great Italian, bad attitude. My husband and I began dining regularly at Il Gabbiano in 2007, enjoying wonderful food and we brought in fine wines from our own extensive collection, and we recommended the restaurant to many of our friends. Without notice, they abruptly changed its corkage policy, with the explanation that "we serve only our own wines." When asked to speak to the manager, we got a call from someone other than the manager. All of the finest restaurants in Miami honor a corkage policy for a reasonable fee, especially for repeat guests, why not them?
Best italian food ever!. Il Gabbiano is a wonderful italian restaurant. The service is first class. The food is an authentic and tasteful journey. There is so much attention to detail. The location is nice on the bay. it is a perfect setting for any special occasion. Call ahead as you will need a reservation. Superb!!
BEST ITALIAN.
I've traveled all over the world and can honestly say this is the best Italian restaurant ever. The original owners of the original Il Mulino have created another home run. This is how Italian food is really done, folks.
The pastas are made in-house, which most restaurants don't do,and everyone knows that fresh pasta always tastes better. The sauces for both meat, fish and pasta dishes are so thick and rich and the interplay of the ingredients are magnificent. One of my favorite dishes is the Snapper in Livornese sauce. I also highly recommend the racck of lamb. I also love the filet mignon medallions. I still have more dishes to try, but my cholesterol can only take so much. Although costly this restaurant is really worth it and it should be. Well done and welcome to Miami.
So Italian, that you'll swear that you're staring at the Mediterranean instead of Biscayne Bay..
In Short
The weekday power lunch crowd may not take the time to appreciate the elegant waterfront setting. They're busy going through traditional Italian pastas, risottos, and meatier entrees to notice the majestic view. Leave that for the romantic dinner crowd, craving both atmosphere and dishes like foie gras-stuffed chicken, veal in champagne cream, and several variations of scampi.
