Nexxt Cafe. Nexxt just opened in the Gables. We've always liked the location at the Beach. I am so glad not to drive to the Beach anymore. They have done a good job with the new location. Too bad there are no patio seating. But the food is just as good as the Beach. The service is a lot efficient and friendlier at the Gables, since they do not have to deal with the crazy Lincoln Rd crowd. I was surprised to read the previous review about Nexxt, which questioned the cleanliness of the place. That review sounded fishy!!! Brand new place, with brand new kitchen (I was lucky to get a tour of the immaculate kitchen). They are so proud of this massive kitchen, they just want to show off. Just ask for a tour. That's what I did. It looks like NASA just opened a joint at the Gables. You have to see the grill that goes up to 1500 degrees F. (So what they said) It looks scary, but the steaks comes out perfect out of this science fiction grill.
Terrible service, worse food. Everything is greasy and they take forever! never again :(.
We hated it- bad service, worse food. Nexxt copied the menu from Cheesecake Factory, everything is the same. Filled with advertising and tons of stuff. We took 10 min just to read it all. Our waiter eventually showed up, he was either bored or stoned or both. Either way, serving us seemed a major drag for him.
The worst part was the food- the portions are too big to be enjoyable, you can't order a healthy thing on the menu. It's all very carb and fat heavy, it was edible but only cause I was so hungry. I got sick aftewards.
I recommend you stay away.
It's a wide open menu within a wide open space at this stylistically cozy comfort food haven..
In Short
The popular Lincoln Road pedestrian magnet now has a second outlet in the heart of Coral Gables, sans the outdoor seating. The globetrotter menu features hundreds of options, literally. From chicken schnitzel to Miso-marinated salmon to pasta carbonara, pack a passport. And a takeout bag. The portions are huge. Can you believe this used to be a Burger King once? It's an amazing transformation, down to the booth-backed tables, modern décor, and inviting airiness.
