Editorial Review for Cafe Maurice – by Michael Alarcon

In Short
In the earlier hours, patrons can expect a happy hour with an exceptional tapas menu or enjoy traditional French cuisine entrees at unbelievable pricing under $20. As the evening progresses, the charming, intimate dining experience transforms into a vibrant cabaret with guests dancing to the sounds of gypsy music taking them far and away to the South of France.

Insider Tips

The Extras

Work off all that French food by sticking around after dinner when the cafe goes cabaret with late-night dancing to festive gypsy music.

Fun Fact

After a successful 11 year run in Los Angeles, California, Maurice made the big move in January 2007 to it's current Miami location.

april 8 2008 went for the first time to the Cafe Maurice, as some friend recommand this place. What a wonderful surprise for my guests and myself. The atmosphere was great. The meal was delicious, I had the escargot, my friends get the blinis of potatoes and salmon and the fish soup, I recommand both of them if you go there. Then I get european bass grilled who was delicious and my friends get the chicken "a la creme" and the ribeye with a wine sauce, I can say all was perfect at a very low price for Miami Beach . Will definitly recommand to go there . Service was perfect with a French touch.

Attractive, inviting decor, but where is the French music? Escargot Provenciale disappointingly bland with no garlic or salt. Duck "shephard pie" was mosly mashed potatoes with a tiny amount of tasteless ground duck. Snapper was "fishy" smelling and served over bland, overcooked pasta, inedible to our French and Italian guests. The duck l'orange was very good though the orange flavor was absent. The "Floating Island" desert was fair and the Creme Brulee excellent! Service was good and we were undisturbed during our enjoyable after dinner conversation, having to request our check in the true European tradition.

Part cabaret, part cafe--this late-night eatery is just like a slice of France tucked away in the heart of South Beach.  See the full editorial review.
