What People Are Saying About Mokai

In Short – At just 4,000 square feet and with capacity capped at 220 club-happy patrons, the lounge is an intimate departure from the same camp that brought you Mynt. DJs spin the latest house and hip-hop tracks as the lucky 220 inside can kick their feet up on wooden ottomans, lay back against brick walls, and admire the "Lord of the Rings" vibe (Mokai is the New Zealand canyon where the trilogy was filmed).

Best night of my life!

Mokai is amazing..deep house music, gorgeous people, no cover! This was seriously the best time I ever had at a night club! Me and my bff are from NJ and we went to south beach a few months ago on vacation, and were recommended this club. We got there really drunk around 2am and walked right in. The crowd seriously lOoks like a bunch of supermodels. The music is amazing, and so is the atmosphere. Anyone visiting sout beach def has to go to mokai on a tuesday night!

Are you kidding me?????

I was at a loss of words when I just read the other comment that there is not good dancing, its a place to talk to your friends, and it was empty. Sweetie, everything depends on the night you go. Tuesday night, biggest party in MIAMI

Newest club in town (as of my review right now)

by xceli at Citysearch

The cab driver said this opened around Sept 2006? And there's a lot of buzz about it because of again, the very strict doorman. Very difficult for males to get in, especially if you're not trendy or cute enough. To some extent the doorman tries to make some people wait outside forever so as to create an illusion of the club's popularity. My friend and I got in (both girls) easily on a relatively quiet night, and the place was more like a bar and lounge than it is a club because it was pretty small and there were no dancefloors. Many beautiful people inside, no doubt, but don't expect yourself to be dancing away very much...it's probably more of a friends get together mingling type of scene.

  • Pros: No cover, new and cozy
  • Cons: Doorman, more of a lounge than a club on non-event nights

The Details on Mokai

Know Before You Go:

Once inside, you may not want to tempt the velvet rope again if you're hungry for a late-night snack. Thankfully, Molakai has a kitchen open until 5am serving up small bites like sliders and grilled sandwiches.

The Extras:

If you've got an eye for fashion, compliment the staff's attire. In a peculiar case of product placement, Mokai struck a deal Hugo Boss to outfit employees with Hugo Boss apparel exclusively.
