When you have baseball legend Andre Dawson as a part owner, you may as well swing for the fences. This Miami Gardens eatery does, with Southern soul food standards like chicken and waffles, fried catfish on a bed of grits and even a salmon fillet paired with mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens. However, Dawson's place also sends out a tropical nod to the Caribbean with conch fritters and jerk chicken wings. The décor is casual, with earthy multicolored wood chairs anchored by an inviting bar that, contrary to the restaurant's name, is not topped in mahogany.
