What People Are Saying About Michy's

Featured Review

In Short – The 60-seat dining room at this bistro has a bright, whimsical color scheme, including walls swathed in cobalt and buttressed by vibrant orange banquettes to white-clothed tables and seashell chanaliers. At Michy's, Bernstein has traded in the clean, delicate dishes she whipped up at Azul for a more dynamic Mediterranean palate. Simultaneously bold and refined dishes include peach-accented braised duck, handkerchief pasta with wild mushrooms and a raw bar featuring stone crab cocktails.

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
Feel free to mix and match the eclectic food choices with nearly 100 bottles from various regions.
The Extras:
Most entrees are small enough that you can order a couple in order to sample more of the menu. However, if you only want a nibble, you can get half-orders of most entrees.
Look Good:
If you're thinking sand and flip flops, stay on Ocean Drive. This is a place where people dress for dinner.
Know Before You Go:
Make sure to reserve a table, especially on weekends, or you may end up going hungry.

Michy's Miami's Best

by jamesV at Citysearch

I had to write this review after reading some of the negative reviews . First of all: I have dined at all of Chef Bernstien's restaurants several times. I always come back to Michy's for the great food and service. I have had the pleasure of meeting Chef Bernstien and her husband David. They are both the most warm, sincere and accomodating people I have ever enncountered in the restaurant business. Their love and passion for the business trickles down to the staff, which are both knowledgable and friendly. I feel blessed to have a Chef of Michelle's caliber living and working in Miami. I have to say that reading those negative reviews I feel that most of those people have never eaten at the restaurant or could'nt figure out the concept of there half's and fulls on the menu. I would reccommend that anyone reading this go try her food for themselves. I guarantee you will love it!

  • Pros: The Best Food in Miami by far.
  • Cons: Hard to locate.

Awesome Experience!

by Candis Brown at Citysearch

I found the wine list to be intriguing and affordable. They served the freshest oysters I've ever eaten in Florida. Michelle's White Gazpacho was velvety and complex, and the salads were cool perfection. Our next course of Truffle Polenta and Duck Confit was a decadent dream. Her Seared Foie almost sent me over the top, and no one in this town does Sweetbreads better. The Pasta & Clams seduced my palate all over again and the Short Ribs were addictive. I understand why the Bread Pudding is the only dessert in her cookbook. The service was outstanding. None of us can wait to go back.

  • Pros: Food, Service & Wine List
  • Cons: Small Sign Out Front

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

by joeandmich at Citysearch

I haven't felt this disappointed in over a decade. The food sounds very "high brow" so you would expect it to have been halfway decent. I make better steaks and I can't even cook. We spent over $200 for about $30 worth of appetizer sized food. I left feeling violated especially when they charged us $18 just for a glass of riesling.

Buyer beware!!!!!

  • Pros: You only have to pay $5 to self park
  • Cons: Mediocre food at high end prices!

Still Starving

by DantesMom at Citysearch

Do not go here hungry... you will leave hungry. Whether you order full portions or half portions, you will leave starving and broke.

The food was ok. The bread pudding could have been warmer - Im not sure if it was supposed to be kind of cold or not tho. The bartender/waitress was nice.. and considering how crowded it was, we got our food fairly quickly.

  • Pros: You can say you went there
  • Cons: Portions are too small

Scam food

by Francamente at Citysearch

I went there three times and the last time the check was a whopping $ 600 for the four of us and totally not worthed......

The place is loud and too bright, the staff is nice, the wine list is extensive, but the food is a big disappointment because i think the main ingredients are cheap quality meats and seafood covered up with sauces too heavy and too rich with butter and cream or perfumed with truffle oil and other scents to disguised what is under the plate.

The portions are so tiny that i had to order many "little" dishes and by the time i got home i was sick with "rich food overdose"

Chef Bernstein has been prized and awarded everywhere for her cuisine, and i think she is a very talented person to come up with such intricate recipes and her presentation is beautiful but she should use better ingredients for the prices that she charges in that location and with that horrible decor, i am absolutely not going back.

  • Cons: food, ambiance
