NOT WORTH THE WAIT.
I went to Prime 112 last night for dinner. I had a group of 10 people and had reservations at 10:30 PM. When I got there, they told me that they had a wait of 40 minutes, which was annoying. They also said that because of our large group, we (ironically) would be seated sooner than the smaller parties. After the 40 minute wait at the over-crowded and very small bar area, where we kept getting bumped into, I went to the front counter to check on the reservation.
We were told it would be another 15 minutes. After waiting now a full hour, I again went to the desk to check on the reservation and they said it would be another 15 minutes. We did not get seated until an hour and forty-five minutes after our initial reservation, which wasn't until 12:15 AM!! What a sham!
To top it off, we didn't even get seated in the main restaurant and they took us to their annex which was in a different building.
Yes, to be fair, they did buy us a round of drinks. But they ruined our entire evening and we had to cancel our plans for the later part of our evening as we didn't leave there until after 2:00 AM.
Furthermore, while some in our party enjoyed their meal, others felt that the steaks weren't that good and that the food was over-rated.
I would strongly caution anyone wanting to go to Prime 112 to BEWARE!
Decent food - not worth the price. Small space.. My husband and I have been to numerous "upscale" steakhouses and restaurants. This felt more like a meat market, where all the customers are cramped together without enough space for patrons or servers to move around. It was for our anniversary and we couldn’t even converse because of the loud noise that result from all diners being seated almost on top of each other. The food was good and portions were more than enough but definitely not worth the price. We’ve had better steak and lamb chops in other places such as Capital Grill, Smith & Wollensky, Houston, Flemming’s, Frankie’s, etc. If you are looking to try it once, go for it but be prepared. It is good atmosphere for loud big groups but not for romantic dinners.
Prime real estate maybe!.
If it weren't for the entitlement issues of the disagreeable hostess, we may have had dinner. Having introduced ourselves in an overly friendly manner, as friends of the manager, we expected to be treated with a little courtesy. We were not expecting her to be argumentative, condescending and just plain rude. Nor were we expecting to be upgraded on the wait list. We simply wanted to say hello to a friend.
We excused ourselves to the bar, where we awaited a greeting from our friend. The bartenders, while very busy, were accommodating, as I am sure the rest of the staff may have been. We wouldn't know for the hostess never sat us.
After reading several reviews, I realize that 1-1-2 represents the star rating for this below par restaurant. 1 = Unpleasant staff, 1 = Crammed seating and extensive wait, even with a reservation and 2 = Mediocre food.
Best Churrasco in town. My girlfriend and I love to go to prime 112 for any occasion. The food is expensive but totally worth it. The portions are fair. You have to try the truffle fries and my girlfriend loves the fondue!
Fantastic!. We had a fantastic experience at Prime 112! Made reservations less than a week in advance for Memorial Day weekend for 7:30 on Thursday night and were seated within 20 minutes of arriving - perfect for getting a drink at the bar and enjoying a piece of their signature bacon bar snack. Filet was cooked to perfection, grouper was to die for and mac & cheese was the best we have eaten. Highly recommend this restaurant!
crowded and insignificant cannot recommend. We tried this restaurant after hearing mixed reviews about it and were seated late with careless service, in an overcrowded room with average food. We ate at Devito the next night and loved it.. Much better steaks and Italian food and great service with twice the ambience...
Never a bad meal. My husband and I dine at Prime 112 whenever in Miami and it is by far our favorite restaurant. We have never had a bad experience and the food and service is always consistently amazing. We learned from our first dinner to avoid ordering entrees and instead having apps and sides to enjoy more variety from the extensive menu. Go in with a good attitude and be prepared to wait and you will not be disappointed. Try to save room for the deep fried oreos.
Best in miami. I love prime 112! The food is great the service is great! I have been there several times and it is by far my favorite restaurant in miami! The only downfall is waiting even when you have a reservation...and I'm not talking 20mins. I have been to several of the best steak houses across north america and to me this is hands down - THE BEST! The food is incredible.
Not as great as it's hyped up to be.
So we got a reservation through a "friend" of a "friend" on Monday night, and sat down immediately! So far so good. The menu was not as expansive as I though it would be, and the sides were not that appealing, and were too plentiful for 3 people. They should serve smaller portions so you can actually finish the sides. The mac and cheese tasted rather garlicy , too strong for me. When a "famous" rap music producer came in, my daughter turned to look, then said she wasn't sure the person was who she thought it was. I told her to Google him and get the picture, then she would know. Well, I guess the "celebrity police" otherwise known as the hostess overheard me saying to my daughter, " did you get the picture" and she stormed over and said NO PICTURES! I tried to get a word in to say we were googling, not taking pictures, but she kept repeating herself, "We don't allow pictures...You can't take pictures...Its rude etc..." Well my Bronx almost came out, but I tried to be the better person and said "Dont worry we aren't taking pictures."
I think the restaurant is overpriced and I've had food that tasted just as good at local restaurants. A lot of hype for nothing, and yes there were also empty tables that night, so whats with the no available seating??Is it to keep up the image of chicness? Not my 1st choice next time I'm in South Beach.
Avoid, Tuscan is better. Rude hostess, never have table for 2 persons even when calling ahead of time. They think they are the only steakhouse in town. Iam a concierge on south beach and I get negative feedback 70 percent of the time from guest I send there. Bottom line I had a bad experience whenever I have rude guest I send them there have fun dont be rude to hotel staff or you might just find yourself eating at overpriced prime 112, seatting on top of eachother
