Editorial Review for Chispa – by Heather Wood
In Short
In Spanish, Chispa means "spark," a theme followed through from the fiery decor--warm yellow lighting, orange tablecloths, dark wood benches--to the spicy cuisine. Seemingly simple starters like pieces of mahi mahi are kicked up with a sour orange aioli; clams are served with fermented black beans, garlic and aji secco. Weekly specials range from fish to fowl to the farm, each spiked with chili, citrus or herb crusts.

We went during the week(Thurs.) had a great time. Very swanky and upscale. Restaurant was not overly crowded and food was fabulous. Great service. Highly recommended. No problem parking.
Pros: no problem parking.
Cons: we were first seated at a booth for 8 and asked to be moved to a smaller booth

The restaurant is beautiful. I thought we were in for a special evening. When the music started, it was so loud that all conversation ended. The menu was very interesting but the food didn't taste as good as it sounded. Service was terrible. We would never go back again. With all the great restaurnats in the area (Coral Gables and Doral) why waste your money here?
Pros: beautiful restaurant
Cons: service, noise level, food
