WASTE OF SPACE

by blottoz at Citysearch

we've been there twice. first time was food was fabulous; service slow but friendly; we went back a second time to get a specific menu item. were seated next to the chef playing computer video games with a child; there were four tables being served at the time: virtually empty: the child proceeded to stare at us the entire time that we surveyed the menu. we asked to be moved. after 10 minutes we got water. after 20 minutes we got wine. after 30 minutes we got bread. we asked the server if it could be speeded up as we had to retrieve a child shortly. after another 10 minutes with no food we asked for the check. we paid for the the wine, left a tip and departed the proprietor subsequently greeted us at the door and told us (and everyone else in the parking lot) in no uncertain terms that we were not welcomed, and to never come back---that people like us were not permitted in HIS establishment;

in over thirty years of fine dining from rome to singapore, we've never encountered such a display. perhaps the food is good; but with the myriad of alternatives in south florida we can only suggest that it's merely a matter of time before you, too, are treated so rudely.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: bizarre way of doing business

Consitently Superb Cuisine, The Jewel of Pinecrest

by WorldCuisineLover at Citysearch

I love Bistro Bisou, bar none my new favorite restaurant. So much so that I have been back 5 times since July. The first time I went was with a friend, that had been taken there by another friend earlier in the week. Knowing that I love food and rant and rave about Coral Gables, because of all the great dining options he said I had to go to dinner with him and we drove to Pinecrest. We started are meal with the best Foie Gras I have ever had it was so soft and smooth and just an explosion of flavors in my mouth. That was the beginning of my pleasant surprise. I had the Duck a L'Orange and was so impressed by the sauce and the perfectly cooked duck including the skin which was evenly crunchy and not fatty. I thought I couldn't eat anymore, but then came the chocolate and Grand Marnier soufflee. I had never had anything like it WOW! The service was great and I think everyone is French, including Chef Victor the creator and owner of all of this food heaven. After that I have been back a couple of times for lunch and they have great lunch specials and a couple of times for dinner

  • Pros: FOOD, Service, Ample Parking, Ambience
  • Cons: none

Spectacular exerience!

In general I think French food is very good, but after eating at Bistro Bisou I believe it is my new favorite type of food. I took my dad to eat there a few weeks ago. We ordered a little bit of everything. The Scallops melted in your mouth. We have never tried rabbit, but today was the day. The Rabbit was excellant and Frog Legs were to die for. We finished off the meal with a Chocolate/Grand Marnier suffle. Oh my goodness! I can't even describe how wonderful it was. The service was great. Shawn our server was very knowlegdable and friendly. The chef even came out and offered us an after dinner drink. He was a very nice guy, down to earth and even adorable. He thanked us and we left. Overall I thought our experience was amazing. I can't wait to go back.
