Editorial Review for Blu la Pizzeria del Sole – by Rick Munarriz
In Short
Owned by and adjacent to the upscale Trattoria Sole, Blu specializes in cozy atmosphere. The restaurant's centerpiece is a large wood-fired oven, surrounded by several booths and tables. The additional two-dozen outdoor tables are perfect for people-watching. Is the pizza Chicago style? New York style? Try Italian-style. Hearty toppings like deli ham are piled high on crepe-thin flour crusts. Although pizzas dominate the menu, paninis, calzones and carpaccios also abound.

Insider Tips
Where to SitFactor the climate into seating your decision. Humid summer nights or unseasonably cool winter evenings would make indoor seating a less romantic, yet ultimately more rewarding option.
Save TimeMetered street parking isn't always available on weekend nights, but you can opt for valet parking in front of Trattoria Sole on Sunset Drive to spare yourself the hassle.

I would have to describe this place as average all around. The pizza was average, cleanliness was average to a bit below average, and the ambiance was below average. The pizza wasn't greasy and the ingredients did seem to be fresh. I just wasn't impressed. For $12 to $14 for a personal pizza, I expect the quality to be better. It wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't great. It simply was average. I am disappointed by this, as I frequent the area and had high hopes for this place. The decor is Mediterranean and imparts a classy atmosphere. This, however, is ruined by the dinning area being just overall too loud (not due to music, but people!). Don't bother sitting inside as it is way too cramped! I wouldn't recommend this place for a first date, but otherwise if someone is in the mood for pizza in the south miami area, go ahead and risk it. I personally won't return, but as I said it's average...and sometimes average is okay.

Loooking for somewhere to unwind as your week comes to and end or a quick and delicios bite to eat with the kids, i got just the place for you. Enjoy a taste of Italy in South Miami at Blu Pizzeria. Theres not many pizzerias where you can taste the freshness in the ingredients. With pizza chefs Pedro Bermudez and Danny who have perfected the art of true wood-oven pizza baking, any pizza you order will be cooked to nothing but perfection. Now, to the unwinding part. They have an excellent selction wines as well as other international wines. And not to metion Peroni a world renouned Italian Beer. Pair a nice glass of wine with a Costa de mare (seafood pizza) one of my favorite pizzas or have any of their delicious sandwiches, salads, foccaias and top it off with a delicios coconut flan or Foccacia sprinkled with powered sugar and topped with Nutella. If you want the authentic taste of a true italian pizza without dishing out money on a plane ticket to Italy, blu is the place for you!
