Editorial Review for The Spa at Shore Club – by Jennifer Osorio

The Scene
A small elevator brings guests to a sunny waiting lounge outfitted with light-wood furniture, soft pastels and cream accents. Upon arrival, a staff member offers complimentary bottled water and guides guests to a small locker room stocked with toiletries and robes. The friendly spa team and quiet atmosphere create a welcoming air for a clientele largely comprised of hotel guests.

The Services
The Shore Club specializes in classic massages, facials and body treatments. Its Wild and Zesty aromatherapy massage includes a scalp massage with the guest's pick of scents--lavender, citrus or pine nettle--along with a Swedish massage. Many services can be administered outdoors or in the Zen-like calm of a private treatment room.

Insider Tips

The Extras

A series of outdoor decks allow guests to receive treatments while enjoying an ocean view.

Massage

The multiple-media massage lasts 90 minutes and costs $210. The treatment includes deep tissue, Swedish, and reflexology methods. Warm essential oils placed on the chakras contribute to the experience.

Facials

The $200 Synergy Facial lasts 90 minutes and uses a combination of fruit pulp and paprika layered on the skin. The process stimulates blood flow, detoxifies and exfoliates. It's followed by oxygenation, extractions, massage, and fruit and vegetable masques depending on skin type.

Where to start? Trying to find the spa in the hotel took forever. Walking all over the place, past restaurants and finally to the old elevator up to the spa. It was very plain with wood floors and almost empty shelves. I had to wait for the girls to stop talking before they got someone to show me the lockers. (nice cold water to drink.) What I had can be described as a very basic, but very overpriced facial. I was cleansed and had some oils rubbed on my face, but none of the blemish squezing that Im use to. She seemed new and unsure. I ask her for firmer touch, but no. It was a waste of time and money. Since the tip was already added on I guess she didnt care. The spa manager was in a meeting so I just paid and left. Not worth it.

Pros: ice cold water

Cons: inexperienced, overpriced, parking
