Aventura >Coco's Day Spa & Salon
BY FAR WORST SALON EVER!!!!! DO NOT GO!!!.
Three months ago I booked for an all-over color & glaze at Coco's. I've been having this same service at another salon for years so I know what to expect. What I received at Coco's was subpar and felt to me like a scam job, attempting to pass off half services and charging full prices.
Firstly, the salon was noisy and unkempt, including the staff, most of whom looked like they had just rolled out of bed. This should have been Red Flag #1 for me.
When I met with the stylist we discussed my color. I was adamant about NOT wanting any red in my hair or any color that had a red or warm base. I simply wanted a dark cool brown and glaze. She had only 2 samples to show me so I chose one and she went to mix the color. An assistant applied the color from a squeeze bottle and it had the consistency of a $6 rinse from Walgreens...Red Flag #2. I was then put under a dryer and forgotten about for at least a half hour. I got up and found the assistant who led me back to the shampoo area and rinsed my hair, then told me I was done and to go to the front desk. An $80 ticket was waiting for me. This was the price that had been quoted, but that was to include the glaze which I had not received. I pointed this out to the receptionist and she called over the stylist.
The stylist, whose name escapes me, tried to convince me that the glaze was in the color applied. I informed her that I've had this service many times before and knew better.
I was then grudgingly taken back to the shampoo area where another bottle of thin liquid was haphazardly squirted onto my hair. Under the dryer again for another forgotten 30 minutes, then rinsed and sent to the front desk again. This time a ticket for $100 was waiting for me. At this point I was livid! I put a $50 bill on the counter and informed the receptionist that I could have done my own service for half that using home products and felt completely scammed given the level of service. For the first time in my life I did not even leave a tip.
When I arrived home I blew dry my hair and surprise, surprise!!!...my hair was RED and had absolutely NO shine to it!!! The color started to fade after just a few weeks, leaving me with an orange tone to my hair! It was terrible!!! I have since had to spend more money to have my hair done properly.
DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!! ZERO STARS!!!
Not an exclusive tranquil spa- this was intense!. While I am used to going to the tranquil, exclusive spas, my boyfriend surprised me with a certificate to this one. I showed up ready for my day of pampering and thought I was at the wrong place- until they let me know the spa is in the back. This is a all Russian spa which I have never encountered so interesting. No dressing room and lockers here (that I saw) just go in the room and get un- dressed (to radio music- no cds?) . The facialist was nice and thorough ( I have never had inside my ears and nose cleaned during a facial). As far as the massage- that was intense! That was more than a massage- that was a squeezing of my bones! Good but golly I was grabbing the sheets! The nail tech was nice but did not ask me about how I wanted my nails shaped or anything, she just did her thing- but I have to say no one bit of dead skin was left on my feet! All together a good experience. I would go back. This is not aromatherapy, Iced lemon water, tranquil music (lots of banging on the other side of the wall during my sessions) but they sure get the job done! I would go back.
Needs to take math lessons!.
I met with the hairdressor, a friendly Israely girl. I told her that I only wanted the tips of hair cut and at the max 1/2 inch. I repeated that I wanted to keep my length in several ways just to drive home the point (past experiences of hairdressors not listening). Needless to say, she hacked off 3 inches in the back and 5 inches in the front! My hair now just touches my collar bone, and was at my chest. She denied cutting more than the 1/2 inch and made it like I didn't know what I was talking about. Lady, I think I know where my hair length was and where it is now. Learn math, since clearly you don't understand what "just the ends or 1/2 inch" means!!!
It's not even a good hair cut not even including the length issue.
Great hair color WITH Margarita. First of all, let me get clear on something, I am NOT rating the Spa, I'm only telling you the experience that I have been having with one member of it, whose name responds to Margarita, super nice colombian girl, with many many years of experience in this business. I have been following Margarita since I moved to Miami in the year 2000; and since that year, she has been the only one doing my hair!. Coco's really got an A+ hiring her there!. And she is simply the best at it, she's gentle, she really knows what she's doing, she keeps asking you what you need and if you aprove what she is doing with your hair, she concentrates on her work, and does'nt get distracted talking with anybody else, and she definatley oves what she does. If you ever go there, I recommend her 100%. It will be a really nice experience and you'll end up leaving refreshed and really happy with your hair!, and of course, wanting her to take care of your hair when you need it again :) The price for the service will depend on the lenghth of the hair and the volume of it, so DO get ready to spend a bit, but I assure you it is worth it!
I made an appointment at this spa after calling and verifying the prices. After I had my hair done I was charged nearly 50% more than what I had been quoted. Not only that- but when I told the lady to not cut more than 2 inches off my hair she hacked off 4 INCHES! I left with an outrageously expensive, frizzy, short hair do. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!
This place doesn't even deserve 1 star!
WORST HAIR EXPERIENCE!. YOU KNOW I WALKED INTO COCO SALON RELAXED AND ALL I WANTED WAS TO DYE MY HAIR ADD SOME HIGHLIGHTS AND GET A CUT. IT TURNED INTO MY WORST NIGHTMARE. FIRST OF ALL WHEN THE STYLIST "A. G. " BEGAN TO "BRUSH" MY HAIR HE PULLED ALOT OF MY HAIR FROM DOING IT TOO HARD! SECOND I CLEARLY SAID AND SHOWED THE COLOR I WANTED. SO HE DID MY HAIR AND HIGHLIGHTS AND DRIES MY HAIR A BIT TO SEE THE COLOR. I WISH I HADNT LOOKED. MY HAIR WAS ORANGE. SO HE DECIDED TO "TONE" MY HAIR. EVEN WORSE. MY HAIR WAS JUST ORANGE W/ OUT HIGHLIGHTS. HE SAYS HE CAN FIX IT, WHEN IT LOOKS WORSE THE MORE HE TOUCHES IT.FINALLY HE BEGINS TO CUT MY HAIR. BIG MISTAKE. I WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE LONG LAYERS. HE CUT MY HAIR SHORT. AND ITS UNEVEN . EVERYTHING WAS JUST A MESS. SO TO END IT. I CAME OUT LOOKING LIKE A 10 YEAR OLD DID MY HAIR AND DIDNT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. AND NEVER RECIEVED A CALL BACK FROM ANY MANAGER WHATSOEVER. SO MY ADVISE TO YOU...IF YOU LIKE YOUR HAIR TO LOOK BEAUTIFUL AND HEALTHY AND WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY...DON'T GO TO COCO'S DAY SPA & SALON.
Very Impressed. I originally only booked an appointment to get my hair done done there because my regular stylist was unavailable. When I arrived there I didnt even have to wait a minute. A woman named Sara did my hair, I was at first undecided about what i wanted, but she helped me to choose the perfect haircut and suggested a different shade for my highlights. The staff was very friendly and attentive to me, I am so happy I went there today, My hair has never looked better and i have been getting compliments about how great evrything looks! Over all, this salon experience was the best one I have ever had. The stylist, atmosphere, everything was perfect and not ridiculously expensive either. I was definately very impressed. From now on I am making Cocos Day spa the only place to get may hair done. I highly recommend Sara, she was amazing! Cant wait to to try the other spa services!
Serenity. Coco's is an unexpected treat. Upon my first visit, I anticipated a very commercial type cultureone that was smug and only visited by the local upper crust. The environment was serene and classy. The staff was sophisticated, pleasant and professional. I was looking for a place that had moderate prices and although their fees are slightly above what I wanted to pay, it was well worth it the costafter all, you get what you pay for. The prices may have been moderate-to-high, yet affordable. I was extremely pleased with the services that I received in my package, which included a Swedish massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. My massage relaxed me to sleep as I literally felt the toxins escape my body. My facial was superb! The esthetician had a lot of experience; she understood my skin type and treated it accordingly. I left her (with my face) feeling tight a rejuvenated. My pedicure and manicure was equally satisfying. My experiences overall was fabulous. I definitely recommend Cocos Spa. I mean that so much that I have my next appointment already scheduled.
Fun Day At The Spa.
I received a gift certificate for Coco's and was very skeptical about using it after reading the other reviews, but I gave it a shot and am glad I did. The atmosphere was young and fun, I found the staff to be very friendly and warm. I started with a facial, massage, and manicure. I was so impressed with my services I ended up asking for a pedicure, at which time reflexology was suggested and explained to me.
That was the best pedicure of my life. I can't wait to go back.
