THE WORST RESTAURANT ON LINCOLN ROAD – There are many restaurants on Lincoln Road, I have tried all of them over many years. This had to be the worst service of any restaurant I had experienced in the US. The table next to me was cleaned using the napkin of the lady that had just left. I had seen her wipe her nose on it and then the waitress wiped the table with it. I was told to order as soon as I sat down and the specials were thrust under my nose, cold and wrapped in cellophane. No thanks! No bread was offered and the main course was thrown at my table while I was still eating the starter. I asked for Soy Sauce but was told "I'm too busy, ask your own waiter". Finally, there was no offer of Dessert or coffee. The check was again thrust under my nose as soon as I finished the main course. I won't be back!
The WORST – We ate at Aura only because we came late to Lincoln Road and they had space. The meal began well, nice salads, free drinks and a pleasant setting. It all went down from there. The food was terrible all around and the service was a joke. I think the waiter needed reminders for every request my friend and I had made. Sorry to give such a bad review, but I could never recommend this place to anyone and would not concider going back, I'd go to the drive through first!
Best Paella!!! – My boyfriend and I dined here one night during our vacation in South Beach. The free bottle of wine was great. The Chard was good for a free bottle, and they give you a nice wine chiller by your table. We ordered the coconut crusted fried shrimp - EXCELLENT! great flavor, cooked perfectly. The highlight of the meal was the Paella. It was by far the best paella we've ever had. Rice was seasoned sooooo well, cooked in a chicken stock with lots of flavor. Service was great as well. Would definitley go back..
tourist trap with terrible food – I visited South Beach with my boyfriend this past weekend and we spent a good deal of time looking for a place to eat on Lincoln Road before we were (admittedly) suckered in to Aura by the free drinks. We had two awful (but free, at least) mojitos that tasted like they were made from a mix. We ordered the tuna encrusted with sesame, which came with rice and spinach. The tuna was rubbery and encrusted with about a pound of sesame seeds. It did not taste like it was even cooked (though I guess it was) and it was not warm. The rice was so bland that even a dash of salt would have made a difference. The spinach was edible but there was only two bites and it was loaded with garlic. The server was nice but the food was literally the worst I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I understand that other people think Aura is a great restaurant, but this was our experience: awful!
Best South Beach Restaurant,, DELICIOUS !! – I have noticed that everyone has different tastes.. On City Search there are restaurants that have a varying group of comments.. Some people like them and swear they are the best,, and some eat at the same restaurant and say it's the worst.
I was surprised to see however the couple of bad comments people have left about AURA. These people must be from Planet Bizzaro and eat Rocks and sand...... I live on South Beach.. I am not a tourist that doesn't know their way around the cluster of overhyped restaurants in South Beach..
AURA IS TERRIFIC !!! I eat at Aura again and again; It's always consistent in serving top quality meals with great staff..
The Lobster Bisque is rich and creamy with Lobster meat in every spoonful.. Filet Mignon so tender that it melts in your mouth.. Braised Lamb shank with red-wine sauce.. and last night I enjoyed their special of the night: Paella .. full of fresh seafood.. for $25.. Give me a break,, on lincoln rd in super trendy & expensive South Beach.. I have had Paella at another Linc. Rd. restaurant and it was priced at $55.. and it didn't compare to Aura's paella ..
The owners are there side by side with staff providing excellent service. You see genuine passion in the owners and their staff. This is the way to run a restaurant.. It's always crowded with tourists and locals alike.. yet the service is attentive and the food arrives prompt and deliciously prepared EVERY TIME......
The restaurant was designed by Morris Lapidus, the architect who designed most of Miami's trendiest Hotels and the result is Super Unique !!! Aura's outdoor dining patio is on Lincoln road where you see celebrities and models walking right by you...... As far as the best dining experience,, AURA stands out among the competition on the highly fashionable Lincoln road..
EXCELLENT, Casual-Upscale. Don't believe the competition. – My friend visited South Beach for the first time from L.A. and to my surprise researched on City SEARCH where he wanted to go for dinner. He chose a restaurant that I've eaten at 3 times with below average experiences. I told him that I wanted to take him to my favorite restaurant, Aura. Quickly whipping open his laptop he showed me the reviews. I was surprised. I have dined at Aura at least 20 times and it is dollar-for-dollar; the BEST restaurant in South Beach. Trusting me rather than strangers, we strolled over to beautiful Lincoln Rd. Upon completion, my friend agreed with what I already knew. This is a Great restaurant. i had a Filet Mignon in a wine sauce( I think Barolo) with polenta. My friend had the Lobster & Crab ravioli, and in no way was it similiar to the prior review i read. My friend described it as the best dish he may have ever had in his life! Lobster filled ravioli in a saffron cream sauce with fresh crabmeat. Top of the line!! My friend felt his Caesar salad was overly coated with dressing, but he did note that it was fresh made Caesar dressing which was very good; just a kittle too much. My crabcake was exceptional. A huge fresh crabmeat filled cake with cocktail sauce. That's the thing, the portions are HUGE, not that stuffy finger-food sized entrees. Prices are affordable to say the least. Lobster Ravioli $17 - Filet $32. Entrees start from $14 and up. More surprising were the comments regarding service. Who writes this stuff, the competition?? This is not a stuffy white-glove type of place. However the staff are the most accomodating, friendly group of people you will find on South Beach. I dine out 7 nights a week and i visit AURA 2 or 3 times a week. In a city full of tourists, most South Beach restaurants are expensive ripoffs that lack quality. I'm not the competition. I'm a real dining customer. I have brought a countless amount of guests to Aura
and have always been delighted. This is an exceptional restaurant.
Good drink specials; Bad food – This is my first time writing a review...I just had to write because I cannot take the experience out of my mind. When I think about the "lobster bisque" that I had, it still makes me feel queezy. It was basically canned tomato soup with chucks of somebody's left over lobster sparingly sprinkled in to it. I could not believe the low quality of the food...My yellow tail snapper tasted like it was a reheated frozen dinner and the lobster ravioli with crab had the same kind of comparison. I was under the impression that food on Southbeach was exceptional, this was below any of my expectations. Granted not all of the food was terrible, the Greek salad and caprice salad were well prepared and a friend who ordered the lobster said it was fresh. The only thing that slightly made up for the experience was the 2 free bottles of wine, but it wasn't worth it.
Consistently DELICIOUS!! Best Service in South Beach.. – This is the first time I am writing a review.. After reading the previous reviews I felt compelled to add mine. My wife and I have been dining at Aura since moving to Miami Beach 7 years ago. We have dined at almost every restaurant on South Beach. In a city full of great restaurants, Aura is one of the best !! The food is consistently DELICIOUS ! The menu offers the widest variety of choices that works perfectly when with a large group.
I have always enjoyed the huge Grilled Veal Chop / the Seafood Linguini with mussels, clams, scallops, and shrimp / and as a starter I enjoy the dozen different types of super-thin crust Pizzas.
My wife loves the Lobster and Crab Ravioli and the Pistachio Crusted Sea Bass.
As far as service, we have always felt that this was the BEST service in all of South Beach..
I mean really attentive, warm-friendly service. Not the "I'm a supermodel attitude" that you get in most South Beach restaurants.
Over the years I have dined at Aura a countless amount of times with my wife, family, friends and business associates and it has always been a top-quality experience. Everyone I have ever brought there has raved about it.
Aura is a "must."
don't bother – weak food from a mediocre menu. How does this place stay alive? Must be the free wine. Slow kitchen.
I can't say enough about it. But priced like everyone else on the block.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS – Please do not let anyone you know or love go to Aura. To begin, it took about 5-10 minutes to be greeted; it took another 10 minutes to receive bread and water; followed by another 15 minutes to receive our salads (the table next to us sat 10 minutes after us and received salads first). After a quick trip to the restroom, I heard the waitress giving our order to the chef (about 45 minutes into the meal); on the bill, we noticed fire entree (meaning the waitress forgot to put in our order). The food was merely satisfactory. I should also note that Aura adds 17% gratuity post-tax. FINALLY - we both asked for change for a $50 and got the response "we don't have change; nearly all of our customers pay by credit card."
