Editorial Review for The Pit – by Victoria Pesce Elliott
In Short
The Pit's cole slaw is crunchy, creamy and spiked with a hint of relish and pepper. Meaty chunks of pork ribs are served with three different sauces, from smooth and sweet to smoky-hot. Frog legs fried in light, golden batter and chicken done on the bone or in tiny bite-size pieces are especially good for kids. The Key lime pie will satisfy a sweet tooth, which is good because it's the only option for dessert.

I went to The Pit for the first time on Sunday and I was really impressed. The place is hopping. I had a blast. I ate the churrasco and tried the gator bites they are delicious. The staff is friendly and the owners came by our table to say hello. I will certainly be back. I found out that they have an antique car show every 3rd saturday of he month. I know my husband and his friends will be there. Well, I have been told that The Pit has been around for a long time. I can see why. When you go try the gator bites they are mouth watering.
Pros: Food, ambience and friendly staff.
Cons: Gets really busy might have to wait for a table and for food.

My friends and family and I love The Pit. It's somewhere I went as as child, and in the past year we started going again, and the food is phenomenal - especially the chicken with the gold BBQ sauce. It's a great, inexpensive hangout for my teenaged friends and I, and as classic rock fans we have always loved the jukebox, but upon our last visit, after the renovations, we were greeted with loud salsa music played on a stereo outside, and said jukebox was covered up as if it's no longer working. I can guarantee you that the majority of the people who eat at The Pit do not want to hear latin music - you can hear that anywhere. What they want to hear is classic rock and country coming out of the good old jukebox. That said, we were the last customers there and the food was still of the same excellent quality, if not better, and the chicken portions were definitely larger. I miss the way the Pit used to look inside, but if they'll just stop with the salsa music, I'll continue to eat there as often as possible!
Pros: Phenomenal BBQ, better portions, clean/new tables and chairs, large Tiki hut outside, entertainment for kids on weekends
Cons: Terribly annoying salsa music, only open until 8 PM on weeknights now
