Worst "Italian" food around.
My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try and we got there on the early side for dinner. (@6pm) She ordered a personal pizza and I ordered a pasta dish. My order came out first and the pasta was overcooked and not drained properly making the sauce watery. I waited a few minutes before starting to eat as I didn't want my girlfriend to sit there and watch me while I ate without her. After several more minutes it became clear that her order was taking longer and she graciously told me to start eating before my dish got cold. It took @45 minutes for her pizza to finally come out by which time I was long done. When we talked to the Manager about it he blamed the 16yo waitress for not putting the pizza order in before the pasta dish. He also made the excuse of being backed up on pizza to-go orders. (Um, sorry but I ran a restaurant many years ago and not only do you never blame someone else when you're the manager but it's all the same kitchen & Dine-in customers always come before carry-out. If you don't know that then you need to find another line of work.)
I've eaten at many Italian restaurants all over the country including NYC and this is NOT Italian food. (BTW: A jar of Prego is far better than this stuff.) Not only will I never go back but I'll make sure to let everyone else know not to go there either. Especially if you all want to eat together.
Old New York style service.
Forget home delivery.
I heard they had a new place on Bird Road, (near me) so I called- already tasting great pizza.
I called and called. Called 3 times and no one picked up after many, many rings.
So I thought maybe I had the wrong number and called the original restaurant to check I had the right number.
ME: Do you have a new place on Bird Road?
Kendall" Yes, click." Kendall hung up.
I guess when they say New York Style, they are talking about the style of service.
You can guess another business got my business.
Very good quality food. Service OK. Food quality in general is very good. True NY pizza, cheesy, toasty and , bendable. However, for such a famous pizzeria in South Miami, waiters should be trained and managed in a more rigorous manner. During dinner time, about a dozen people gather at a very small entrance either waiting to be seated or for take-out. There's no distinction between the two crowds . I find it a bit chaotic. Prices are fair.
THE BEST AND ONLY CHOICE FOR PIZZA IN KENDALL!!!!. I' VE BEEN GOING TO MIKES PIZZA SINCE I WAS A KID AND IT REMINDS OF A LITTLE NEW YORK HOLE IN THE WALL. THE OWNERS AND STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING. THE PIZZA IS DELICIOUS WITH THE CRUST BEING THE PERFECT TEXTURE. TRY THEIR STROMBOLI AND CALZONES TOO. ENJOY GREAT TRADITIONAL ITALIAN FOOD, SUPPORT A LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS, AND FORGET ABOUT PIZZA HUT, DOMINOS, ETC.
Bad service!. Extremely nasty service! The service in this place is really bad. If you go during the weekend the wait is endless and the waiters are hostile. During the week it's dead and the waiters are still rude and slow.
Not a family oriented restaurant! The owner is not there anymore and the employees do whatever they want. Lazy manager never leaves his tv set and the waiter is very rude.. I've been going to Mike's pizza for years. It's sad to see the service going down. Mike, the owner is never there anymore so the employees do whatever they want. I had a really bad experience with the waiter the last time I went and will never go back. He set the hot pizza in front of my 11 month old daughter who quickly stuck her hand in it and burned herself. That could happen anywhere of course but that wasn't the problem. What set me off is that he didn't apologize. I asked him, Did you see what just happened? and he said "yeah, you're the mother." Anyone with any sentiment or brain would have said they were sorry and would have at least acted to be concerned as an 11 month old baby is screaming from burning her hand from a pizza you placed in front of her. When I asked to speak to the manager I had to go to the counter. He had seen the whole thing but yet he couldn't pull himself away from the TV set. This place has awful customer service!
Best pizza Ive ever had!. The real deal! Mike, Anthony, Vinny, and the rest of the staff have been providing the best service and serving the best pizza and pasta since 1980. I take my family there every Friday night. The pizza is consistently perfect with a crisp crust, sweet sauce, and the highest quality cheese. No cheap ingredients ever used in any of their dishes. A must go for pizza and pasta lovers!!!
Finally-A Real New York Pizzeria. Everything about this place is perfect. It smells, looks, and tastes like real NY pizza. The crust isnt too thin or thick and the sauce is just sweet enough. Also, they use high quality cheese. The garlick rolls aren't too soft or too crispy. All in all, this place is the real deal. Too bad it is so hard to get to. I found it when I was at U. Miami but stop there whenever I am in Miami-Dade. Well worth the trip for anyone in South Florida.
Great Great Great. Place has the best italian food i have ever tasted, They do get a little full on weekends, but is well worth the wait... If you are thinking about going here, dont think anymore, go, its wonderful.
