In Short – Walk into Miami's oldest pizzeria, but don't go scrambling for a table. There aren't any. This is a takeout joint, but you'll see hungry patrons redefine that by chowing down slices on the order counter, on an outside bench, or in their cars. The old school pies aren't triangular, but square, and diners can order them up by the slice or entire pies (that come in 5 to 10 slices).Topping choices are fairly predictable (save for the harder to find salami or anchovy), and the crust is soft and thin. The pie averse will have to do with freshly-baked garlic rolls, given the…

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Hope you don't crave a slice on a Monday, my friend. The pizzeria is closed that day.
The Extras:
If you want the fresh Frankie's experience closer to home, order a "half baked" pie. You can then finish the baking process by sticking it in your over for another 5-10 minutes at 450 degrees.
Save Time:
Phone in your order, so it's ready to go when you arrive.

THE BEST BY FAR!!!!

by scharvel at Citysearch

I grew up on Frankie's, I worked at Frankie's during high school and it is one of the very few things I miss about Miami. It is a snapshot of a better time and the best pizza ever. With places closing left and right these days, it is a comfort to know that Frankie's will endure for decades.

I nearly ran over Rene' while crossing Bird Road! Get the HALF-BAKED --trust me! Or eat on the cat-infeststed patio -or in your car, if you must, but Never, Ever, drive it home and serve it up 20+ minutes later.

Frank Pasquerella devised a formula for crispy crust that even holds up during our 6-month monsoon season. It is securely guarded by his 2 devoted daughters Roxanne & Rene'. They slave away to make time stand still and keep the pizza ovens burning! Oh, yeah, Ends & Corners, ENDS & CORNERS!!

Frankie's the Best anywhere!

by Ex Miamian at Citysearch

I grew up on this pizza. Moved out of town after Hurricane Andrews and still crave for their pizza.

I have the pizza shipped half baked, along with extra sauce, to enjoy without traveling three hours to get some.

The more people I meet that are from Miami state that they too are hooked on their pizza.

Still unique - my favorite pizza of all along with my pie of chicago (used to be one in kendall, miami)

by johnnyjet at Citysearch

The previous review who hated it must have gone on a bad day-i worked in and eventually owned the McDonalds down the street on Bird Road and a few others, and knew Frankie and Roxanne for 30 years plus-It was a little better when Frankie lorded over the place, he worked near 24 / 7 , but Roxanne tries hard to keep up his tradition. I've never had a better , more unique tasting pizza- all the others are clones of each other-frankies has a unique taste, texture and shape- she needs to go back to fresh mushrooms tho-i started buying the half baked and adding my own at home- mabey the bad review bought a half baked one and didn't realize it was half cooked-mabey thats why he hated it. I wish "My Pie " of chicago would come back-that was totally different tasting too-- super thick and gooey-no dried up crust there-- those two made me bored with ordinary pizza forever. Thanks for the tip that they ship thru on line now.

  • Pros: No seating
  • Cons: Owner often on premise
