Miami history. The secret to this experience is the BBQ sauce. This has been a Miami mainstay since the 1960's since we started going there...a place with no A/C and a screen enclosure only. Upgraded now it is still the BEST PLACE FOR BBQ in Miami. NOTHING compares to the taste or succulent nature of the rib plate in the world. Buy the sauce to take home and you will have the best BBQ in the neighborhood. I have never taken anyone there from countries around the world and not have rave reviews. It is a mainstay of the VARIG flight crews for eat in or take out meals. This is a WORLD CLASS dining experience...don't doubt it...forget the doily crowd...just try it an experience a totally unique taste experience.

Good food. Had a great experience at Shorty's. A friend and I sampled everything and thought they did a very good job. Nice smoke ring, tender. The ribs had a nice "toothsome" feel, not pork jello at all. The chicken and beef were done right. Sides were very good. All in All very good barbecue for a commercial BBQQ joint.

Service was delightful with a server that had both and additude and a sense of humor. When we questioned her about the preparation, she brought the manager out and we spent about an hour with him talking about how they do everything. (It was a slow part of the afternoon)

A good sign was the wood rack out back filled with logs.

Reccomend this place, they do know how to do it and they care about it.

Another one bits the dust!. 10 years ago this was once a wonderful place for beef sandwiches,ribs, chicken, corn and slaw! Now, like everything else another chapter of Great Florida eatting has dissapeared into the abyss! Sadly, the chicken is fatty, the ribs as dry as the desert, the slaw tastes like it was made in Publix! How the heck does this happen? Management should never have expanded this joint. It`s lost its allure. Anyone, who can tell you that "This is the place for Ribs" is in denial.

Shorty's not short on good food!. Living in Miami for 20 years Shorty's became a mainstay for us. It was not until we moved did we realize how good the food really was. We have tried to find another place locally to compare, but nothing can touch the food, service and atmosphere of wholesome family fun....
