In Short – Despite the faux-nautical kitsch, this is a serious restaurant with real skill in the kitchen. There are many fish in the sea, and most of them are on the Captain's five-page menu. All are pristinely fresh and come cooked in a veritable United Nations of styles. Clam chowder is creamy and full of clams. Pan-fried soft-shell crab is golden, crispy and sea-sweet. The signature cheesecake is almost impossible to pass up.

Captains Tavern has such a warm quaint feel! Aside from the atmosphere, the food is the best around! I travel 1 hour for this place. It is SO worth it! I recommend this place to everyone I know...it's my favorite place to eat out!!!! You may have to wait a bit on Friday and Saturday night, I usually get a drink at the bar and they'll come get us over there. It's by far my favorite fish place around!
- Pros: THE BEST FISH!Worth the wait!!!
- Cons: You may have to wait a little bit...but so worth it!!!!!!!!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants but definitely my favorite seafood restaurant. Fisherman that we know love eating here and ordering from their market. That's all you need to know. We love it so much. The food is just awesome. My favorites include the Salmon Tartare (always must order it) The main dishes are delicious. My favorite dessert is the white chocolate creme brulee.. Yum!!
- Pros: Best Seafood Restaurant in Miami
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I have eaten here numerous times and I have yet to have a bad meal. The ipswich belly clams, coleslaw, salmon...everything is delicious. The service is usually right up there, but can lack slightly in very high traffic times which is expected, but the food is fresh and yummy...I would eat here once a week if I could.
- Pros: food, service
- Cons: slightly hidden location
The Details on Captain's Tavern
What To Drink:
As impressive as the Captain's 600-bottle wine list is its surprisingly modest markup. That allows you to enjoy the rich, creamy, complex 1999 Ancien Carneros chardonnay for a quite reasonable $48.
Save Time:
The Captain doesn't take reservations, though, so consider eating at non-peak periods.
