Food is awful...no credit cards..NO REALLY, NO CREDIT CARDS!.
This is the very first bar I've been to that does not accept any credit cards. What?.. are they in a fight with the conglomerates?
The food was terrible, the bartender unaccomodating, the server didn't really want to be there, and did I mention that they don't accept credit cards?

It is what it is...beer + bar type food + sports on tv.
Love it bec. it is an institution...I've never known it for its food and I've been here since 2000 but I'm not a big burger person. The best food items on the menu are the grouper sandwich and the pork chop special. I often get a hotdog since that goes w. beer and the sports which are all over the multiple tvs. And I annoy the waiters all the time by asking for the potato skins which are not on the menu. When they do have them they are awesome! Thin skins lightly fried sprinkled w. parmesan. I like all the pictures and mementos on the wall...I don't know of a place that has better wall decor...similar to Big Cheese in that way but better.

Gone is the old Duffy's....
Gone are the days of the Duffy's Tavern we used to know. The friendly service and hand-formed burgers that made them famous have been replaced with a grumpy owner (and his ungrateful son) and the same frozen sysco burger that everyone else has. the bar still has a good feel to it, but it's not the same...and that's a shame.

Horrible.
As someone who lives in the area and had gone for many years, food has turned horribly for the worse. Several times i had been there customers and staff had major issues with each other, the amount of dirt mixed in with the "nostalgia" has gotten gross. Very disappointed in the bartender, who i was told was the son of the owner, talking down to his staff and other customers in front of everyone. As someone who was very fond of the food and the atmosphere, i have just one question.... What happened? Burgers are now frozen, chili from a can, and I'd honestly like to know when the last time the beerlines were cleaned. And still no credit card? What year are we in? and if what you want is cheap beer and nostalgia you might as well go to the 7 Seas next door. Time's have changed and unfortunately for the worse. Look elsewhere is good food is what your into.

Best Rubens.
I miss the smoke fish, but the Ruben Sandwich is the best anywhere, with cold beer and good service this place can't be beat. The Ruben is so good that I go out of my way to go there and break my vegetarian diet to eat it, but Duffy's is worth it

Food is terrible!.
I used to go there all the time but ever since they remodeled it, it has gone down in quality. It might be nicer looking but the food quality is absolutely terrible. I went for lunch. I ordered the smoked fish dip to start. There was no smoked fish of any kind in it - it was nothing but tuna. Then I ordered a bunless hamburger. It was a frozen type patty and came out rare. The worse lunch I've ever had. But the beer selection is great! That's the only thing worth going for.

Part sports bar, part UM rec room with great burgers, cheap beer and a sense of school history..
In Short
For those who appreciate the heady nostalgia of pitchers of beer and shot glasses slammed down on wooden tables, this is a welcome blast from the past. There's also a terrific hangover prevention, which UM students swear by: cheeseburgers, hot and juicy, to absorb alcohol toxins. Also on the small menu are a variety of sandwiches, fries heavily coated in beer batter and a tart Key lime pie. Daily specials are usually a bargain.
