This small, oceanfront resort has welcomed two generations of repeat guests..
This family-friendly hotel purports to be the first built in Key Biscayne. Originally constructed in the 1950s, it was damaged during Hurricane Andrew and subsequently completely renovated in 1995. The white-and-blue ranch-style hotel sits directly on the ocean and caters primarily to repeat guests, often second-generation fans. Those who stay here enjoy privileges at the adjacent Sonesta Beach Resort.
Of the hotel's 56 rooms, most are in the main cabin and come equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and VCR. There are also a few cabanas with separate living rooms, private balconies and full kitchens. The oceanfront suites reside beachfront. Anything other than lounging--spa treatments, dining and working out--can be accomplished next door. An on-site restaurant is in the works, but in the meantime the hotel offers delivery from local restaurants. Bicycles and kayaks are available for rent.
